I'm 'only' at 120,000 so far. I got it with 113,000 miles.

Had a 2001 with 285,000 miles, the supercharger was noisy and the throttle body needed replacing but apart from that it worked and behaved perfectly, and by all accounts it still does!
Regular servicing and long runs are what these cars are all about.

After a full valve job with new springs and properly set valve adjustment, it runs great.

Just passed 175k on mine, and since I have another year and a half to pay on it, I guess it better make it to 225! I do need the TB replaced though, still waiting on a spare vehicle to use in the meantime.

Hearing owners reaching these kind of miles on XJR's gives me hope of mine lasting so long! I still have a young one at 65,000 miles on much of the drivetrain and just over 100,000 on the body.

My XJ Sport has 134,500 miles on the clock, my previous car had a lot more than that. High Miles on a car is nothing to be afraid of in my opinion as long as the car has been properly maintained and looked after. I'd be far more dubious about buying an older car with low miles because the lack of use or multiple short journeys are likely to cause issues.

I know this is about XJR cars but, since we are on the subject of miles... This was a customers 2002 XJ8. It had the original engine because I saw the vin on the left side of the engine.

I have 165k on my 2001 with a 3lb upper pulley and it runs great. I also take it to the drag strip once a year just for fun. I prep it by taking the car seats out...

That's amazing.
As for your XJR, did you need to replace the transmission or engine at any point? Did you have to do any maintenance that required major engine work? Any major transmission repairs or maintenance?

When I acquired the 98' about 3 years ago with 231K I pulled the heads off and had them rebuilt along with new springs, another used set of exhaust valves, new stem seals and valve adjustment. This is the original nikasil engine. I also rebuilt the throttle body because the bearings were toast. There's a post that I started covering the rebuild process. I replaced every coolant hose since most of them were original.

The transmission was gone thru by some unknown transmission shop about 5 years ago but it failed last year. I acquired a 40K mile 03' XJR complete engine and transmission for next to nothing 1 year ago and put that transmission in my car.

I've done multiple other repairs and upgrades since it's an old car but I love it.
