Electric series 1 XJ6 project
You can convert the vents to no vacuum with electric motors instead and the heater is easy with the VA Heater Servo. The only vacuum thing I have left
is the center vent - it could be easily converted to none vacuum. Note that I installed a GPS speedo that fits in the old speedo/tach shell and would work
in your installation perfectly. Antenna is under the center dash grill and the rest of the install is very easy...
I am looking forward to you filling the engine compartment with batteries.. Will the weight be near the old Jaguar engine and trans combined?
IRS should be able to handle the new motors torque easily. it is good for near 600 #.

Thanks!
I'd budget about 10k to do it scrappily like I've done. The big ticket items were motor ($2k), battery ($2k), charger ($3k), inverter ($1k in parts). Without doing the inverter yourself, you'd need to add $5k more for one that will perform a little less than mine. Then of course range/batteries are whatever you can afford!
The gps speedo is a stand alone unit. If you want to retain your original cable driven gauge you can get a unit from speedhut called the speedbox to take input from a gps signal and spin the cable correspondingly. I don't know how well they work but they do exist.
I also purchased one of these bad boys today to convert the tachometer to a voltage driven, rather than current driven, system. This is what will allow me to use the tach as an ammeter: https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index...ion-board.html
Yesterday evening I picked up a set of Nissan Leaf batteries! These will make up pack v1.0
The Speedhut GPS speedo replaces the need for a cable box and a trans. It is stand alone. It will provide a Altimeter, timing for 1/4 miles and 0-60 plus other useful features. It fits into a S1 tach case or S1 speedo case. The rear section is cut off and the internals replaced with the Speedhut stuff. I put the antenna under the center dash pad grill cover so it has access to the outside sky through the window. It works perfectly... I bought the one with the remote cable so it replaced the S1 resetting cable... that is where I choose their options.
Mine is hooked up with 12V all the time so it will retain the last setting...they have pointer color choices and other variables.
Will be perfect solution to your vehicle.. and easy enough for me to be able to fit it together and have it work the first time. Just plugs into
the stock dash hole and looks stock or close enough for me.

Photo of the new GPS speedo installed and the tach... note that the tach is from a V12 = higher rpms due to the V8 engine installed.
The mileage on top shows the amount driven since the new speedo was installed and 3.5 miles since the last fuel fillup...
I chose the red colored pointer color.. they will do it in white.

I got a hold of speedhut who stated that the speedbox uses a default 1000 turns per mile and has the ability to compensate slightly to achieve the factory 1020 turns per mile while retaining the original speedometer 100% intact. I think I will go this route with a GPS receiver. Now for the small matter of converting the speedometer cable threads to match the Ford/GM/Chevrolet on the speedbox
Tonight a friend came by and we started the mock up of the battery pack. I've opted to fix the pack directly to the chassis to keep it isolated from road and motor vibration. There may be a side benefit of some extra front stiffness that comes out of this decision as well, we'll see as it firms up.
I am intrigued by this build. However my friend sent me this video today.

I'm not sure I can look at street racing the same way again? Can I?

I just had a look at a useful magazine I subscribe to. Not glossy and sans a lot of advertising. Most stuff by reader contribution.
A GPS speedo install. Auto Restorer. A Classic Instruments unit in an MGB.
Yeah, AC wants power!!!

I'm loving all these EV conversions popping up. I'd love to do one myself, though I don't know if I have the patience. There is a guy over on the x100 forum building something similar:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ert-ev-130388/
i talked with the guy with the 1967 Mustang electric.
two DC motors, two GV overdrive units,+ some kind of rear end gear mods.
best performance ,SO FAR, is 0-60 1.78 seconds, slicks.
and 0-100 shade under 5 seconds.
and for kicks at the Texas mile, went 175mph.
Bry5on, he mentioned something about motor max rpm.
DC vs AC motors?
what is max rpm for your AC motor?
