Hey,

I have an x-type and orginally faced the same dillema as you...

Then i found this site. Shipping took about a week, but the kit worked as advertised. Looks like they have a kit for your car too. They are expensive, especially due to the fact that the dollar might as well be in the toilet.... but it works, and they have all the adapters to keep everything stock. It's at least definitely worth a look especially before you try to make your own.

Take a look...

George

Check on eBay. I paid $35 from a U.K. seller with shipping. Took about 3 weeks for it to arrive though.

My single DIN pretty much dropped right in. It's recessed, but that gives a space for the little JVC remote, and the keys when I'm not driving it.

I'll take a photo this evening. Was much less trouble that I read about when I was looking into replacing the stock unit.

I came across this kit including fascia panel and harness adapter in my earlier search. Costing GBP30 plus shipping, it looks like good value.

Default Radio mounting fascia

That's the same one I bought, minus the harness.

I'm amazed you even found this 10 year old post from a Guest, let alone reply to it!

Looks like he never came back.

Good catch! But the topic is worth reviving as folks still have to face the problem of the factory radio falling beyond economical repair or needing one with latest technology and Bluetooth capability.

Default Ok, found it

You don't need the trim piece...

Maybe you'd like one of these, too. I have 2.
They both were Jaguar to ISO. I cut one to connect to the JVC harness. The wires are labeled.
I'm letting the Jaguar go, so I no longer need these, if anyone is interested. They came from England in 2011.
