Default 3.0 (6 cyl) Water Pump Failures?

Is the 3.0/6 cyl [2013 XJ] motor subject to premature water pump failures as is the 5.0 motor?

Is it the same pump?

thanks

I think the answers to both of your questions are "Yes", but check the OEM Jaguar parts websites and see if the part numbers for the water pumps for the 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder are the same.

The water pump was replaced last year on my 2013 XJL with the 3.0L V6, at 26,000 miles. It can fail on the V6 engine, but I am unsure if the rate is equal to the V8. Both engines share the same block and other components

Pretty sure my water pump is leaking on my 2015 XF 3.0L

I have the tune and pulley so would like to avoid dealership visit if possible. Can anyone guide me to a comprehensive list of parts I will need?

Brutal...noticed you're in Houston...how are you handling all the rain???

Do you know when the updated part came out, and if this water pump design is shared with F-type?

Yes. Same pump. They've changed part numbers several times through 2016 AND also even introduced a reroute of a hose coming off the front of the pump requiring a hose coupling to be changed out. There are one or more posts on here discussing details and part number changes over the years. I'm not sure I remember seeing any specific dates mentioned, but I remember seeing something listing VIN #s.

Could you think of any way to determine if I am impacted on my 2016 F-type with AJ-V6?

According to the latest TSB (I just happen to have handy), if your F-type's VIN is greater than K00003, then it supposedly came from the factory with an updated water pump but it doesn't say if that means its the very latest pump or an earlier iteration of the upgraded pumps, just that's when a new bearing seal was introduced. I would say don't really worry about it, but do get yourself a little inspection mirror and once in a while, check around the bottom of the water pump for signs of orange crusting. The TSB tells them not to replace it just for orange crust, but if it starts looking bad, then you'd have an argument to make them do it before your warranty runs out.

I just have a paper copy that the local dealership printed off for me. Its JTB00278NAS3. If you search google, it comes up a pdf.
