Default Seat Filters & Nav update question?

2012 XJL - 18,000 miles and it's time for another oil change-Have an appointment at my local dealer next week. Has anyone changed their own seat filter(s)? Easy or hard? Worth the $$$ to let the dealership do it? I have heard that the Ford filters are the same and they are on ebay from $15 and up?

Also, should a CPO vehicle have the latest NAV map update when it's certified and sold? Purchased the car last year, but it still has the original maps?

IMHO, your dealer should be performing the 64k/4 year service as the time in service would indicate. If you have confidence in the dealer let them do a proper service and not just an oil change. However, the two things I do not have my dealer do is replace the Valeo wipers as they are available on Tirerack and I prefer BG K44 Fuel system cleaner.

I do not think that NAV updates are required for CPO certification.

Ford filters are identical and they take 5 minutes to change on your own if you refuse to put your beer down, if you do decided to put the beer down you can change them in about 2 minutes you will spend more time moving the seat up than changing the filter.

Raise seat, locate filter and twist.

Let me know if you figure it out Ice and I'll do the same. I raised the back of my seat the other day and felt around, but didn't feel anything round, but didn't spend much time on it either. Going to look at it again in the next few days. I have searched, and not found a single video or anything on the web about changing out the XJ filter, but did find info for other models. Seems that most of them are under the seat towards the rear of the seat.

The filter is located under the front of the seat. Sit in the driver's seat, raise the front as high as it will go, reach under the left front and you'll feel a round, soft filter. Grasp it tightly around the edges and twist counterclockwise. Mine was on really tight, so don't give up. I was surprised that mine was clean, so I put it back on by turning it clockwise until I heard a click.

yidal8, I am researching this a little bit and from what I can tell, I am down to 3 potential filters. They are all made by Motorcraft. The filters are the FS-100, FS-104, and/or FS-106. I will be doing a check at the local auto parts store to see if I can find any of these filters and see which one matches the one from my car.

Steve, after looking at mine, I decided a good blow out with my air compressor was all that they needed. So, I haven't done any more looking into things. May be something for me to look into this weekend.

Did we ever find out which part number is correct?
They are the same as the Ford filters but as was posted there are couple of part numbers.

I think I will just blow them out since it seems to work for everyone?

clubairth1, you could always pull one off, take it into the auto parts store and see if they can match it up. We have it narrowed down to a few. So, shouldn't be that hard to do. Even a Ford dealership should be able to help you out with something like that.
