Default Jaguar made a mistake

When they body colored the side skirts it made the car look fat. My 2014 F Type had black side skirts and I liked them a lot better. I think it completely changed the profile.

The sils have been discussed many times. I agree, but others may like the big sils.

Changing sils out for the smaller ones or vice-versa probably is never a good idea. If you do, save the correct-year sils for when you eventually sell the car.

Putting 2015 sils on a 2017, 2018 model would be tacky IMO and it is better just to accept the big sils.

Things like the bigger sils, painted diffuser, different splitter/vents, etc are not a mistake. Changes must be done good or bad because a new model must look different than the last or people won't be able to one-up the next guy. Look at me my car is NEW.

240z syndrome.

I can't say for sure, but I'll bet that would go nicely with the wrong badges.

I think it is a matter of opinion. I personally like the black skirts.

It would be easy enough to black out the sills with a wrap
blacked out sills

I agree with the OP. I had mine wrapped in black, cost under $200 and problem solved.

I'm happy that mine has no sills, it's hard enough getting in and out as it is without having to watch out for the sills and in all the pics I have seen I reckon that no sills looks better.

(In my opinion), the SVR version has nothing to apologize for, even body colored:

much better integration with the body and I think it looks way better that either of the other styles because its not 'flat' like a running board, and doesn't look tacked on as an after thought.

First MYs usually look the best because the design is still coherent. Engineers will immediately start trying to ruin it. In the F-Type's case they've made good ground making it uglier with every tweak.

disagree. The F-type looks better than ever right now. Only the 2016 R might be better with the black pack.

Ian Callum created a masterpiece, it was simple perfection itself. Right now I would not buy an F-Type as the front end is too ugly and the driving fun has been tamed with AWD and the muted exhaust. The big mistakes since 2016 are piling up.

At least there still seem to be a lot a of low mileage lease returns with the shark bumper and awake eyes. Next they slap a cheesy wing on the rear end for "downforce" as if the AWD mistake wasn't heavy enough.

Entropy.

I have to agree with you the 2014-2016 F types look the best. the new nose cones with gaping holes and horizontal dividers look awful

Also prefer the older headlight design, even if they are functionally inferior compared to LEDs.

LEDs can be put in any HID projector, just buy the form factor and skip the ballast. Sadly the opposite is not true.
