Default Ideas on how to bring a dash of color into an all black interior?

I bought a 2015 Rhodium Silver S F-Type a little over a month ago. The leather is black, which is my preference. However, I have seen some F-Types that have a contrasting stitch throughout the leather and I think that looks great as it brings in some color/contrast to the interior of the car. I think my interior would have looked great with silver stitching. Making such a change at this point would be expensive.

So this got me thinking about other ways I might bring in some contrast to the interior that would highlight the silver color of the car's exterior. The first (and so far, only) idea I have is to change the floor mats. I'm not enamored by the current floor mats anyway (I think they are berber). I wouldn't mind having something a bit more luxurious and would love to get some silver stitching in them as well. So my question is twofold:
  1. Where might I get such a floor mat for the F-Type?
  2. Any other ideas for introducing some color into an F-Type with black interior?

Update: Found this online:

https://www.cocomats.com

Looks very promising but wondering if there are alternatives.

Change the seat belts,in red for example that shouldn't cost too much and also the floor mats equally in red...

I had considered swapping out my black seat belts for "pimento" aka red also. I have red stitching on the black leather with the same rhodium silver. Someone else said it cost them about $1500 at the dealer but that it required a fair amount of disassembly with potential for rattles after reassembly. So not exactly a cheap option....

Have the same problem with my m3 interior. Considering having a few select interior trim pieces wrapped in a bright/contrasting color. Effect could be something like this:

I thought of that but the trunk is too small to store them when not in use.

About 2 years ago when I had the XKR a fellow on the XKR forum put in a thread of how he put a coloured cross stitch through his XKR. I was going to do the same with my XKR but sold it before I got to it and the F Type has the contrast in the seats (not in the dash though, so it is a possible that I will do it there).

Here is the thread if you want a crack at it https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-diy-154829/

Read the whole thread though because they were learning as they did it, there are tips on each page.

And kudos to Leeper and Steve for the information on the thread.

Yes but that only factors in the upgrade price from black to red, not the price of the belts themselves. I'm sure black belts are probably $1250 or something.

I think he means as a factory fitted option/upgrade it was $350, but retrofit obviously costs more $$$. I looked up the parts and each seatbelt is $300 so about half is parts the rest labour.

I'm taking a serious look at new floor mats that bring in some gray/silver.

At night, the selectable ambient lighting does a fair job. Red when in dynamic, and I have it set to cyan (light blue) otherwise.

Agreed. My desire for change really applies to daytime. As it is now, everything is black. Some contrast would be nice.

Yeah, that's really cool. Just the look I wish I had now. I'd never attempt such a DYI project however and I'm sure an upholstery guy would charge a fortune as it looks to be so time intensive.

As far as floor mats, may want to hunt down a carpet dealer and check out their remnants to see if they have a color / style / fabric you'd like. They'll generally cut and bind (you may be able to pick a separate binding colors well). Could use your existing floor mats as a template.

Have you given any additional thought to this? What interior trim pieces might you wrap?

Was at the LA auto show last weekend, noticed several makes are doing similar accents now, speedometer bezels, insides of door handles, select parts of center consoles, etc.

I think the key is to not get carried away, a little can be great, too much, is well, too much.

If you did the red seat belts, for example, then maybe wrap the edges of the two gauge bezels, inside of each door handle, and the medium size piano black plastic piece near the gear selector/mode knobs in red and I could really add some zing.

Best part about the wrap, if you change your mind, you can remove it and you are out very little $.

I absolutely love the interior of this 570S, just enough color without overdoing it. Am obsessed with the McLaren and trying to figure out how to convince my wife it’s a good idea to swap the F Type for one 😀
