Default Trunk trim

Hello,

Does anyone know what the chrome trim part # or description is circled in the attached photo, or possibly where I could purchase it?

Thanks for your help.

https://www.northeastjaguarparts.com...rim-trunk-scat Part #6 in the diagram. Check Forum sponsors for a better price for Forum members.

Welcome to the Forum. I see from your signature that you're in Maryland (you might want to correct the typo) but the photo shows a New Mexico tag. I recognize the scene and it looks like Richzak's XKR. Did you buy it from him? If so, you have an exceptional and rare XKR. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

Hi Stuart S, no I did not buy it from him. That is correct, I'm in Maryland. I was looking through the forum at XK's and like the way his truck trim looked. I have a 2012 XK, but mine only has a thin chrome strip with the other piece of trim painted black to match the car. I like the way his looks with the all chrome accent and the "JAGUAR" de-bossed in the chrome.

Thanks for your help, I'll check it out.

Looks like the gate is the same P/N between '07 and '12 so I assume the old part will fit on the newer car.

Richzak added the Leaper on the trunk lid of his 2009 XKR Portfolio, in keeping with the later models. Otherwise, it's stock.

Nope, irrelevant to the OP's question. He asked about the "JAGUAR" embossed finish molding, not the different size rear spoilers. Good point about the holes for the Leaper emblem on the bigger spoilers.

Good info, nevertheless. I'm not a fan of the larger spoilers, as they look like a tacked-on afterthought since they wrap so far over the trunk lid. I think the original design is a cleaner look. But I understand if anyone suffers from spoiler envy.

Post 5+6 says they are direct swaps.

Yes, the rear lip spoilers will fit 4.2L and 5.0L models interchangably, but the original design fits on the top of the trunk lid whereas the later design has a large base that wraps over the trunk lid and extends down to the finish molding (the "plinth"). The plinth is body color on the 2012 and chrome on the 2009. Different design spoilers and plinths but fit all model years.

Enlarge the photos to see the difference, which is most noticeable at the tail lights and right above the plinth - there's a smsll gap with the later design.

Original design: 2008 XKR with chrome plinth embossed "JAGUAR":

Later design: 2012 XKR with red plinth/chrome strip not embossed:

I believe the black car spoiler is the standard unit . The one on the red car is the larger option spoiler which I believe comes with the speed pack. My 2012 came with the standard spoiler.

Correct. Is your plinth chrome "JAGUAR" or body color?

Mine looks like the red car but without the large spoiler. I also have the chrome leeper as OEM with the car.

My '10 XKR is a mixture of the two because it has the larger spoiler or R Performance Aerodynamic Pack as it was called then plus the chrome plinth.

Trunk trim...not size of spoiler.

While I love my XKR the most disappointing part of it is the dull gray trim on the trunk. Shockingly it is even the lone Jaguar logo on rear of car and it looks like hell!! Cheap flimsy plastic and the gray paint has deteriorated.

Jaguar trunk finish

I've been thinking about painting it or getting it chromed. I've recently discovered there is a replacement part offered by vendors as Trunk Finish Chrome - C2P3629 but there is also a Trunk Finish Aluminum - C2P10414MEG. And get this...the aluminum trim costs more than the chrome trim!!! So is the cheap piece of plastic with dull gray paint on my Jag the aluminum trim??? Is there really an aluminum trunk finish? I'd like a nice stainless trim piece embossed with JAGUAR but not sure if I should order a replacement or have mine painted etc. Are there any other optional accessories out there or does anyone have a recommendation as to what looks appropriate to display on the rear of these awesome cars?

A previous owner replaced the original trunk finisher on your 2009 4.2L XKR with the 2015 finisher. See Post #2 this thread for photos:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nfused-189165/

The finisher on my 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible is polished aluminum embossed with JAGUAR. There is no Leaper badge above the finisher.

My license plate frame is a solar-powered backup camera and the wire on the left is CV for my battery maintainer. The polished aluminum trunk finisher matches the polished cast aluminum side vents that were exclusive to the 2008 and 2009 4.2L XKR Portfolio models and are very expensive. See my Post #7 in this thread:

The later model years with the body colored plinths do not have the embossed ‘JAGUAR’.
So a previous owner of your car had the chromed plastic plinth painted to match the body color, or had the whole car repainted and did the plinth too. Was your car maybe rear ended at some point in its life?
Maybe you still have the chrome under the paint.
