Does the grille have to be removed from the bonnet to replace the badge? I have a replacement and it looks like it's held in place by a steel clip fastener. Can I simply do this with hood in raised position? Any guidance is appreciated.

 

Remove the 4 screws and the grill--go to a work bench and swap them--way easier than leaning over the bonnet edge!

 

will a 1988 grille fit a 1992 facelift xjs? i like the look of the old v12 grille

 

Yes grill has to be removed. There is a metal clip and you need to bend it with small screw drivers and then you and re-shape it to re-fit

You can fit facelift grill but some of the fastening holes will not be there. It will fit though!
