Does anyone have an idea what the gloss black part, located between the 2 rear vanity mirrors is?

Looking at the picture you have a SuperSport. Don't know the year but what you are asking about is an ir transmitter for the rear entertainment headphones.

Can you listen with the headphones from the front entertainment?
I thought you could only play stuff thru the headphones from the rear media gear?

The Whitefire headphones work anywhere within the cabin.There main purpose is to allow a passenger to watch TV or a DVD independently from the driver without distraction.
