Hi guys,

I have been having the trouble code p2402 for a while now. It would stay off for weeks and then come back from time to time.

I'm pretty sure the Evap pump on the fuel system is shot. I ordered a new one (sold through Land Rover.. I've been told jag will make you buy the entire assembly).

I took off the wheel liner by the fuel filler line and exposed the filler neck and some other weird stuff.

I took pics. But I don't know what I took pics of... Where is the Evap pump? The only thing that has any power is that black box.up Tight against the rear inner fender.

I have attached pics of what I saw.

also attached a pic of the new part.

The only thing that I see has a fuel line (black) is the the round canister.. But I don't see a power plug.

Thoughts?

So what's the make and model and can you take a couple of pic a little further away so we can get a clearer perception of where this is on the vehicle?

im looking for the Charcoal canister unit.. Any idea where that's at?

its a 2007 XK. I didn't see it by fuel filler.. The whole canister assembly has a pump mounted on it. I need to change the pump (code is saying its shorted).

The charcoal canister is located in a central position, forward of the spare wheel. It is attached at the rear with two bolts which screw into the spare wheel carrier. At the front, the canister has two lugs which locate in the parking brake module support bracket.

Here's a link where you can pull down a shop manual. It has a pic that's better than there description above. Just enter charcoal in the search once you download the manual. That's the DMTL pump you're trying to replace.

I am having this code on my 07 X150 NA. It has gone off for a few days then has come back on. Exactly what is the cause of it coming up with a code then not? Is this a connection issue or is this part made to fail like on a BMW?

BTW , I'm having great success with my other issues , bought my parts from JAGUAR OF GREENVILLE, Ken is a great parts guy. Just ordered plugs and filters for my XK. It's approaching 90K.

 

Here's a better photo of the location, having the same issues and I have ordered the LR part# WTR500030 based on Joe's guidance above. Kind of a pain if you have bigger hands but doable. I removed the 3 screws and the electrical connectors then wiggled it away from the canister. There's another hose that was also removed once it came loose.

There is a rubber grommet and connector that removes from the old and will need to be used on the new part.

 

Replaced the pump with a bit of forearm abuse and used the drive cycle download from another post on here got all readiness tests compete in 50miles. Green light on evap and all is well.

 

This job is not too bad. It took me about an hour from start to finish to complete the job. Here are the steps I took. The part I ordered was Bosch #0261222018. The old unit was a Bosch #0261222. I am working on a 2007 Jaguar XK. First I removed the #14 fuse under the hood that controls this unit. Jacked the rear of the car up and installed safety jacks. Unplugged the electrical connector on the side of the unit. There is a small release leaver on the plug you will need to press down for the plug to come loose. I then removed the three screws holding the unit. I used about an 18" extension on my 1/4" ratchet with a phillips bit. You can now reach up and get a hold of the unit. With a little pulling and wiggling you can now get it to come out to the left side. You can now bring it down several inches and work on removing the black hose that is still attached. You have to press the hose connector in on both sides at the bottom to get it to release and come off. After I had the old one totally removed I had to take the rubber sleeve off of the small pipe and install it on the new pump before I could install the new pump. To reinstall place the rubber boot on the small pipe, reconnect the larger hose to the larger pipe. It will snap in place when pushed all the way on. Reinstall the pump back in place by inserting the small pipe with boot on back in the canister and pump onto the mounting bracket. Replace the three screws, reinstall the electrical plug. Remove all jacks, and replace the fuse. Clear the fault codes, and all should now be OK.

 

Just wondered if this turned out to be permanent repair.
Also wondered why the 0261222018 was used in place of the original 0261222021.
Was it strictly availability or was it a supercession?

I showed my son that picture, the son that just bought a 2007 XKR, and he said.... "Wow, that'll cost thousands to fix". I laughed at him cuz he's naive. Now he has a better idea of what damage repair would cost on X150s.

the advice above by whoismootoo is excellent. I have a 2010 XK with Code 2402 and the Jaguar manual says that the cannister must be replaced which requires lowering of the rear diff. Instead, we were able to access the pump from below just as described here and source a replacement pump only. For my 2010, the Bosch P/N is 0261222022. We reinstalled the new unit, cleared the codes and all lights are now out. If you access to a lift, this is about a 30-45 min job. I dont want to think about what the bill would have been to replace the whole cannister and labor to remove the diff.
