Great minds think alike Ken. And then there's me.

I know they're rare and I'm not parting with it. I was just pondering the different look and might give it a go since I'm hearing the heater won't mess with the glue in the wrap. I still need to wrap the window switches and I'll just wait until I change out the door speakers later this spring.

I've liked most of the wraps and non wrap looks,
Spun Aluminum
Burl
Piano black
Carbon Fiber

and the wraps
Carbon fiber
Brushed aluminum
etc.

I don't like the blond wood which I think came with Portfolios. Just not for me.

I've had Jags for the last 25 years so I want a break from the Burl. Not forever, just for awhile.

I'm liking that black brushed but just not sure if it'll go well with tan leather... Thinking dark grey.

I think grey goes well with tan. I wonder what it would look like to get a piece of matching leather to cover trim over glove box and steering column and then do a wrap on trim around screen and middle console around gear shifter.

Agreed. I think the black brushed would be too dark. I spent $50 for the wider roll so I could keep the grain horizontal. $25 for the 12" roll if it doesn't matter to you.

Here's a link to the thread so we don't hijack this one, but thank you. Video's are on page 34 and 44. It works "alongside" our OEM system. Just a button to switch over. Integrated with the sound system. Google maps washes out a bit on the screen but WAZE and Here we Go work fine.

after doing initial install I to reordered wider material to change all pieces one direction and to be honest it hasn’t bothered me enough yet to redo it... also I am still undecided on which direction I want to go.

Well, I ended up with grey brushed and silver carbon fiber. One or the other will end up in the car. $17 for a 3' x 5' piece. I tried to get the thinner 4d stuff for the interior hoping it fits well.

I did the side covers on my '05 Sportster in 5d blue carbon fiber wrap and it was an educational experience. The clear gloss over wrap came off because I didn't heat it before applying it (I think). It crinkled on application so I pulled it off. Vinyl acts very similar to aluminum alloy. You need to know when to stretch and when to shrink to get it to conform to the surface.

Smells like a kiddy pool when heated too.

This made such a difference in my previous 2007 XK (I love that car!)
The trim pieces in our car are easy to remove. This can be done very quickly. It really updated my interior on my 2007..

Good Job on the wrap!

I added a pic of the previous headliner I had installed in my 07. I got so many compliments on that!
My mint 2012 XKR with 29k is starting to show headliner sag 😑. I’m doing the same perforated suede on the 2012 next week. I hope it looks the same as the 07 did!

That headliner looks pricey, especially the visors. Looks great!

Working on mine today...

Ended up with brushed gray and carbine fiber silver. Couldn't stand the feel of the brushed so chose the silver.

Overall, it's different and I do like it. Silver is a little 'bright', doesn't play well with the darker silver stuff, and the stuff is an absolute PITA to install. It's the cheap stuff so I expect some problems. Getting a good bit of pull back because the back of the parts don't have a lot of flat areas for it to grab to.

I'll post up the 'how to' on my build thread once I get further along.

I can't see your pics on this post. I can see all the pics on your build thread. Anyone else having this issue?

I 'sorta' did the wrap thing twenty years ago, I put some black sparkly vinyl shelf paper on the sheet of aluminum I put in place of the stock dash in my P/S Mustang. Eight gauges and a bunch of switches. It's still there, but gauge replacement has torn it up a bit.
