Post 06 Super V8 Portfolio; Different wood trim; Non-wood steering wheel

I'm looking at a '06 Super V8 Portfolio that seems to be a bit of an odd duck. The wood trim inside is not the dark burled walnut that I've seen on other Super V8s. It's a much lighter color, maybe elm or maple. And the steering wheel isn't wood and leather, but it's all leather. Maybe Jaguar didn't have steering wheels with the lighter color wood? I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not this all leather steering wheel would be heated. I have an original 2006 Jaguar XJ sales brochure and it doesn't even mention the Portfolio. It just lists the regular Super V8 with regular burled walnut trim and the regular wood and leather heated steering wheel. (Edmunds.com states that for the 2006 Portfolio there were no options.) Has anyone seen a car like this? Any ideas about what the lighter wood is and whether or not the all leather steering wheel would be heated? Many thanks.

You should be able to tell within 5 minutes if the steering wheel is heated. Portofino was quite limited, wasn't it?

Its the Portfolio Edition not the Portofino Edition haha... Okay so *almost* all Portfolio cars came with a heated wheel standard.. I also think the lighter wood your talking about is called Elm wood, and its a trim package available on the Portfolio.. BUT here's the funny part: The Elm wood package deletes the heated steering wheel option and I suspect it's also why the car your looking at has an all-leather wheel..

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Eric

Eric,
Bad news is better than no news at all. I've decided I can't in good conscience put the extra money into the Portfolio anyway. Oh well, it was a happy thought.
Thanks to all,
Kevin

This is American Walnut with a satin finsh, at least the Portfolio cars I've seen have been.
Cheers.

I don't like the portfolios for the matte wood and only 4 place seating, i do love the 20" polished callisto wheels ( they may find there way on an XJ for me )

I agree, those 20" wheels are gorgeous. But a dealer told me -- and from my experience with another car I believe him -- that they dent and bend VERY easily. Probably because of the 35-series tires on them.

But boy, are they beautiful!

I'm selling my Portfolio if anyone is interested. You will NOT find one even close to this cheap. It books at well over 60k. I'm selling it for 40k and it's absolutely flawless. Jag just detailed it and it looks new. 39000 miles. Every option.

Do you have it for sale now and are there any pics of it that I can see?

Thanks

Yes, I just listed it. It's on autotrader and cars.com. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd love to sell it very soon. It's just sitting in my garage not being driven.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe the heated steering wheel option was discontinued after 05 on all models??

Thanks - I'll look it up. Not for me, but I contract with someone who finds cars.

Just saw it on cars.com...Wow, Matt, she's a beauty! Wish I had the spare bucks for the car for myself.

Default '06 Super V8 Portfolio Edition

I bought Matt's car. It's in great shape but the 20 " callisto wheels are pretty scraped up. Thinking of taking them in to get refurbished......any thoughts?
