Default Illuminated tread plates.

For cars that dont have the illuminated tread plates (like mine) there is the option via the T2R6090 accessory to upgrade them. It is a bit of a daunting job though as quite a bit of disassembly is needed. Anybody thinking of doing it themselves might find the attached helpful.

I think illuminated tread plates can be cool on some cars, but I don't think the F-Type is one of them for two reasons. One, the F is a relatively small vehicle and can only carry so much signage before you start to feel crowded, and Two, JLR has put "Jaguar" on a lot of surfaces already, door handles (2), wheel caps (4), engine vents (2), air vents (4), lights (2), trunk, grill, info panel, mats (2), and of course, the tread plates (2). Enough already.

(Personal opinion, of course. There is no right answer. Only what you like and what makes you happy.)

Personal opinion, and everyone can have their own point of view, but I think its a nice touch. And just for info the plain sill treads have jaguar stamped on them, so your not really increasing the number of occurrences of jaguar:-)

It is a nice touch. Good work Paul.
What I am looking for is the illuminated insignia to put under the door, when the door opens it lights up the ground . Mercedes has it. I don't know where to look for it.
If anyone knows of it, let me know.

Plenty on Fleabay, just search using "Jaguar F-Type projector lights".
I put a set of these in shortly after I got the car, they look great, child's play to fit, and never had a single problem with them: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-JAGUA...oAAOSwSRVanPpQ

I added them to my car and they are worth it to me.

I have the illuminated sills and get the "ohs and has" from passengers that see them (primarily at night, which is all the time in winter here). I like them as well. There are some additional threads you can reference. See "Related topics" at bottom of this page.

Thanks Oz. You nailed it. I have to search because the link you sent does not ship to US.

Interestingly enough, I realized that no door lights were coming on. Thankfully, it was a reset. Hold the top center light button in for 5 seconds, and they work. I am looking into the puddle lights that reflect on the ground, just have to find the plug and play like OZ suggested.

By far the easiest install ever and they look good.

Exactly.

And, I love the illuminated tread plates on my Jag. Guests always comment on them favorably too.

It may already be understood, but there is no going back once you try to remove the tread plates. They are destroyed in the process.

I think member FR500GT managed to get them off intact by using a heat gun / blowtorch(!) to soften the glue holding them on (double sided tape), and then gently prying them up.

I can concur, the level of force required to remove them distorts the plate. Unless you are a very good metal worker getting them straight again wont be easy.

If it helps to see where the glue tape runs here is a photo from when I replaced mine with the British Design version which I much prefer over the stock, the smoother finish to the aluminium I really like.

Can confirm I did pretty much destroy the previous ones and almost destroyed some fingers even with heat gun and pry tools.
