Are you allowed to run tyres that are rated for a slower speed than the top speed of the car?
I only ask because we aren't.

Hey Jag... I got them from these folks. They are supposed to be a good group. I hope this comes thru, if not, let me know.

Well, that was easy....
I'd ordered one of those rare (and not cheap) late facelift twin-vent centre fascia vents, more or less on a whim, and because while my previous mod, adding vanes to the central fixed part, works, it's not ideal as I don't always want it blowing straight in my face. So I took the part out to the car just now, to make sure it actually fit--I knew from previous posts that I'd need to grind out a couple of central notches, and remove the new part's screw-holes.

Turns out that my car already had the central notches cut out. Huh. Could this be because it was built just as they were changing over and whether a given car got the new type merely depended on what was in the parts bin that day? Or had a P/O also used the twin type, and kept the vent when he sold the car for whatever reason? I have no idea. But the new vent popped right in. And out of curiosity, I attempted to replace the wood without removing the screw tabs from the new vent. And it also popped right back on. Interesting.

Older photo I took when I first removed the vent. You can see the central notches are already there.

And here's the new two-piece looking perfectly happy without any modifications. (The Liquid Leather scent thing hanging from the indicator stalk has long lost its scent of wet cardboard.)

It's possible the wood is slightly further out than before, but it's flush with the glovebox lid and doesn't rattle, so for the moment, I'm going to leave well enough alone.

Ordered a new lower chin spoiler/air dam. Was AWOL when I bought the car, and I finally found one. Also picked up a new set of body color matched growler center caps for the wheels since each wheel had a different cap on it.

NICE NyanFloyd

I just did this with more success than I could have hoped for. If I can be of any help give a jingle. I've got a goooood ways to go but I was pleased with the results. Honestly, it pieces together nicely...

Good place holding and grabbing washers (to distribute the weight of how its tied down to the other parts and body) is a really important thing. Sorry - I dont know the exact term for them...

Where did you get the caps from? The plastic cover's come off one of mine, exposing ***** to the elements, but I seem to mainly find caps from more moderns cars online.

Default Deep into it

Since my rear rotors were shot, and the stub axle carrier seals were shot, and the brake pads were gone...I am fixing it up with new bearings and seals. Timken bearings were only $8 ea on Ebay; the seals were more than the bearing!!! When disassembling take care of the "oil slinger" as they are no longer available.
