Removing Tab Brackets on Relays
Hi Guys,
I just got in a few extra “multi-purpose” relays (Uro brand) that I bought for Superblue. These particular brand relays come with a metal tab bracket on them. AFAIK, no relay application on my '94 4.0 coupe requires the relay to be mounted using such a bracket, so I would like to remove them.
Any idea on how this is done, w/o damaging the relay case? I have tried pushing down on the small exposed area of the case in the middle of the bracket using a fountain pen, and yanking hard on the tab, but no good. Also, tried prying up one end of the tab w. the blade of a screwdriver to try to slide the center hole of the tab over that exposed area of case. Neither method would allow me to slide the tab out of its mounting slot on the case.

I'd give that a try, but as I mentioned on another thread I let go of my Dremmel tool sometime ago when I lost the cordless power pack and couldn't get another one. Apparently the one I bought was one of the first cordless models, and the power packs for that model are no longer made.
There are a multitude of different relay mounting arrangements but if the mount is metal there will be a tab that holds it in, you need to bend this and the mount will slip out.
A pic of the relay would help.
