Default Blacked out the chrome

I was sick of the oxidisation on the window surround so decided to get them wrapped black. Then got carried away and got the boot strip, front inlets and side chrome bits done too as well as the grill and wheels painted. Looks so much better in my opinion!

That Ivory interior sets off the black really well. I dunno if I'd do the same with the entire car as I have the black interior but I am liking the wrapped window trim.

Go ahead and tint those windows dark and it would look really sinister... IMO

That’s the next thing I’m getting done as well as an X pipe.

I love looking at my caramel interior as I walk up to my car.

I just can't bring myself to tint the windows for that reason.

Tatty, it looks great.

What wrap did you use for the window trim? Gloss black, satin black..etc?

I’ll take some close up pictures tomorrow and post them.

Matches the colour of the car quite well.

Love to hear some details about wrap used, how it was done, etc. Care to share?

I never done it, I took it to a styling place near me. Here’s a link to their website showing you all the work they do.

Link doesn't work!

Googled and found this:

They went bust in June apparently...when did you get yours done?

I've approached a couple of car wrapping places to get my chrome bits wrapped, but they've all said it's too small of a job to consider

Marty,

Check out the Autoflex product. I just sprayed my trim and it’s drying in the garage right now. It’s a UK product that I purchased here in Florida for $130 (it’s gloss black).

Thanks S-Typer

It's Marky btw, or Mark

Do tell if the product you've shown is applied using an air compressor, as you've not shown the top of he can? If a compressor so it will be a little too expensive for me

Will give it a try with plasticote, apparently can be done in situ by using this rather ingenious baloon method

sorry about that Marky!

It’s spray cans. No compressor needed.

Plasti Dip- Plasti Coat is ok.. it just doesn’t have a super shiny finish. It’s easy to apply and remove.

Remember to post up pics...did you remove your grills or do it with them fitted?

I can't find the stuff you've listed for sale in the UK...ebay has some of their stone chip products though

Would PlastiDip be able to last on our cars?
The front end is pretty low I would imagine a ton of rocks are hitting the grille causing chipping on the PlastiDip .

Plastidip is a kind of rubber so should be able to take a few Hits.

Plasti dip holds up very well to rocks. It’s easy to apply and gives you the blacked out look. It has more of a stain finish when used with its “glossifier”.

This autoflex product has a very glossy finish. It took longer than expected to complete.. but I hope it looks great once all of the masking is taken off.

I’ll take some more pics tomorrow.
Joe
