What cameras have you all used? Would you recommend them?

This is the one I bought;
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One must ensure that they get a camera in the correct orientation, so it has the correct view when the camera is mounted. Install the camera above either sticking "out" or up" and the picture will be upside-down.
I'm happy with my choice, it mounted well and looks almost OEM.

I installed this one into an OEM plinth/finisher.

but I would use one similar to what CeeJay used if I was mounted to existing plinth.

Also you will need a brown Fakra cable similar to this one that will plug into back of screen. You will cut off other end to hardwire your camera cable to it... read thru the threads and you will find all the answers you need to get camera installed in your car. After that I will help you with the programming.

here is the add a circuit I used for camera power or you can hardwire in if you choose.

Thanks for sharing your experience with that model and the advice. Once certainly can't beat the price on that one!

Thanks for the links! What were your considerations in using and OEM camera specific plinth versus modifying the original non-camera plinth?

So ya know, all I did was drill a 1/2" hole underneath in the plastic and ran the cables around and through the rubber boot at the hinge. I think it looks fine...

Why did you choose to offset the camera from center. Is that required due to interference?

The trunk release button is in the center.
Think Cee Jay did a good job. I placed mine farther offset to the left, just because it gave me more working room.

I liked that the OEM plinth didn't have JAGUAR written out on it and was painted body color, also I liked that the one I bought had the new trunk release button and OEM led lights with it, but most importantly it was available to me for a great price (Bought used from forum member). OEM camera is offset as well...

Thanks. That was pretty obvious once I looked at it.

Default Another American on this thread

Hello everyone, I am in Cincinnati, adding a backup cam to my 2010 XKR convertible. In the process of acquiring a Fakra cable, camera and add-a-circuit to do the hardware part of this job. I have already unlocked various mysteries of IDS/SDD trying to chase out a radio problem on my car so I am fairly sure I can get the software part done when the hardware is in. I have a dedicated laptop I use with the car so maybe I can help others with the software part too once I am done.

Do you have the 'special' files to do this? Maybe you should check... See if "Without parking assist camera" is greyed-out. If it IS greyed-out, then you need a bit of help yet.

So curious, I know the process for installing/ activating a camera for the 07-09 models. The 2010 is easier, with simply installing the camera and activating it with enhanced software. Is the enhanced software that's required for the 2010 also needed for every year after? 2011, 12, 13, 14, 15? Anyone know?

So in the 2012 onward, the camera is installed and the software is activated by Jaguar manufacturing in CCF?

Looks great ! I have a Dynamic XKR with DAB and reverse camera built in. I quite fancy having the TV module as well. Any instructions on what parts are needed and how to install ? Many thanks Martin

I probably have several of the parts you need. I bought parts to multiplex Backup camera output into the Nav system output but then realized I can use a software change and have a backup camera like a 2012 and later car, so I have parts to sell now. Such as a NAV TV etc.

If you're looking for digital TV, reach out to Cambo. He's one of the moderators on this site and also runs a shop in Australia. He has a facebook page and there's a post from Feb 2018 where he indicates they can do a total retro fit of DTV. I thought he posted something here to but I can't find it.
I tried posting a link. In facebook, Old Jaguar - Australia
