I followed in jahummer's footsteps and added the back up camera via fakra and also the retro fit of the portable audio interface.

A huge thank you to Cambo and to Jeremy for the innovation and the help.

That concludes my winter projects:
Android Auto Touchscreen integration
Premium Audio
interior vinyl wrap - black brushed aluminum
Portable Audio Interface retro fit
Fakra enabled back up camera
Wheels powder coated

Though I'm having the wheels done again as I'm not happy with the shade.

Spring projects:
Door speaker replacement
Clear the headlights

I'm very sad that I did the FAKRA rear view camera. It's installed but nobody within 1000 miles can enable it.
I don't really want to buy a Mongoose Cable for $600 just to turn on a camera.

Maybe some day...

If you're going through the head unit and need a guinea pig Cambo, I have a couple of XF TSD's flashed to 09 XK (Cee Jay). I can flash one to 2010 XK (Texas Traveler), depending on your planned approach.

I also have an ICM that came with my CD stacker 7G9N-18C815-TA (I don't know if it was from an LR or an XF 09-11) that I presume I can flash to either unit with some file renaming.

My car's available for another week and then I'll be driving it.

Nah, mine's a 2010 XKR also, not an '09.
Since I don't know what all that other stuff is, I'll keep my mouth shut for now.

Nobody (including myself) has updated this thread!
Both Texas Traveler and I have enabled our cameras with help from Cambo, and also Jahummer.

It all does work, but the SDD to turn it all on needs a tweak or two, but still VERY doable.

Thanks, guys, for getting me there.

So the solution for the 2010 was similar to the 07-09 whereas you bought the VCM and software then followed the guidance given? I think that piece is missing but would be helpful for future XK owners.

I'll just have to see if I can access the camera turn on in the SDD - hopefully it isn't greyed out before I head down this path.

VCM? As in Vehicle Control Module?
Nah, I bought a camera, stuck it on the back of the car, ran coax into the FAKRA connector on the back of the Touch Screen and turned on the option with tweaked SDD.
No parts to buy but the camera and coax parts.

...... and a DA J2534 unit which takes the place of the Mongoose cable. A Secondary cost, and now I have SDD!

Ok my friend, the DA J2534 is the VCM:-) Well I guess technically a VCI but VCM replacement.

So how did you tweak the SDD - was the camera portion greyed out CJ?

It was originally greyed with the stock SDD, but I got some replacement "X150.???" files from somewhere which made it possible.
I don't have disclosure permissions, so I can't tell you where. Maybe check pirate bay or someplace?
Sorry, that's all I can say right now.

So I know there are a few others that would like get a camera working. What does it take to get the critical info on the SDD? Do we have to join a secret society?

I see your in TX... How far are you from Dallas? I have modified SDD that could turn on feature for you assuming your XKR is 2010-11, I think its more involved than just turning on feature on the 07-09... But more than happy to share it with others... Pay it forward, so to speak....

If you are located in Texas, you might reach out to TexasTraveler for assistance.

Thank you for the offer of assistance. I am in the DFW metro area north of Dallas . I have a 2011 XKR. What is involved in loading the modified SDD?
