Reverse camera, iPod & USB added to 2008 XKR

Although I did get the digital TV working in the XKR the problem is the antennas. Because there was never a factory TV option in an XK there are no hidden antennas to utilise, and the factory TV tuner uses four antennas.
I ended up sticking four ugly aftermarket antennas on the 1/4 windows, 2 per side, it worked but it looked terrible.

Hi everyone, if I am reading this thread correctly I can buy the camera Cee Jay listed (like the look and ease of install with that one), tap into power as shown by Jahummer, and buy the brown FAKRA you listed here TexasTraveler and the easy part is done. Now comes the million dollar question, TexasTraveler do you know if your software will work on an 08 XKR? If yes i would really appreciate your help and if no any suggestion of someone in our area that can?

A couple things, it’s been a couple years since I went through this but I believe a 2008 needs an update of some kind, it’s not a simple plug and play by turning on in CCF like the 2010+.... Second the newer version of SDD that I have I am not sure if it is unlocked version once you are ready to turn on in CFF... We probably need to here from Cambo on this... But yes if my SDD is capable of getting you set up I would be more than happy to help you out....

From reading some of ya'lls other post on this subject I am amazed at the crazy mad skills it had to take to figure this out especially for 07s and 08s. So does the software have to be updated first then test if the SDD can see the option to enable the camera? I tried a quick look online for an 09 screen and gateway and that idea got expensive quick and some ebay post were not specific on exactly what year model the donor was so unless someone has a "guy" I am not willing to spend $650 - $700 for a backup camera. Don't mind the work for something cool like this but not interested in explaining to my wife that CC bill.

Yeah, credit Cambo's company - OldJaguar - Specialty Services for Jaguar & Land Rover vehicles. for the crazy mad skills part.
If the $ are too high, you can do an alternate method for about $200. They will likely accept a bid of $180. See here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-GVIF-Vi...oAAOSwRgJXhe-H
Install this and then you can install a back up camera. It is not automatic however. You need to select Navigation then push a button (included with the kit) to view.
There are instructions for that here as well. Search GVIF and you should find them.

I was always wondering how these things were supposed to be working with a reverse camera, because yes the only way to take over the screen is via the navigation....
I got a call this week from a car audio installer who bought a reverse camera interface from a US vendor that I won't name, and it "didn't work" probably because you have to manually go in to the navigation menu first.
That's pretty crap tbh, I could imagine a lot of people didn't know or realise this, including the companies selling the interfaces.

I jumped in and messed around for awhile before I could figure anything out in SDD. I didn't actually DO anything until probably the fifth time I went in.
Oh, and there are YouTube videos about using it, but some are stupid and a waste of time. Some are okay though and may give you some good info.
The rear camera for your 2011 needs a special file to unlock the ability to change it. Engineering Mode would also work.
Maybe someone out there can help you out soon? Me, I may still have something somewhere, but nowhere near me.

Dears, have a quick question. I fitted an OEM camera to a famous tesla style screen. It works fine. My only concern is that I plugged a camera to a 12v which gives a supply everytime ignition is on. Still better then before ignition, but... Wanted to connect it somewhere where supply is only when in reverse. Can you help me find such place?
Checked both placed which Jahummer suggests in first post (thin red line and fuse 14) - both gives supply whenever ignition is on. Any ideas on reverse only source of supply?
Thanks a lot for help!
PS. At tesla screen camera turns on when in reverse and turns off instantly when put into drive.

You could try just tapping into the backup light wiring. If you get some error or either the camera or backup lights don’t work, then I’d suggest adding a relay, driven by the backup light supply, and providing power to both the camera and backup lights.
There is a thread about adding LED taillights to the 4.2 cars, and in there is a PDF file from George Kale, that shows how to add a relay to power those backup lights. Do the same to power your backup lights and camera.
That’s how I power my camera, so it’s not on all the time. (Also powers my backup lights, as I also did that LED conversion.)
