It's helpful to provide more information when requesting assistance on the forum, such as number of kilometres/miles, engine type and specific symptoms or conditions that caused the MIL to come on.

Have someone provide you with the DTCs stored in the OBD system and post them here.

Take it to autozone, have them pull the DTC code, then report back. Without that information it could be literally anything and no one will be able to tell you.

Default engine/Transmission light on...cont-1

more info...
I bought the car 1 yr ago with 8k miles, even though the car is 2014 it has only 16k miles. I haven't had any problems with it. I have been switching the "Dynamic" mode switch while driving the car and now reading I found out the car should be stationary to do the switching..I wonder if that could attribute to the problem. ...4-5 mos ago the light came on but it went off all by itself...Thoughts

Many of these cars have needed one or more oxygen sensors replaced. But there's no point guessing until the codes have been read.

Provide the DTCs stored in the vehicle's OBD system so there is no guessing on what could be the matter.

I switch Dynamic on/off while driving all the time; I've never heard of such a limitation. If the light goes off and stays off, I wouldn't worry about it. I had that happen when I pulled it out of winter storage a couple of years ago.

I believe that is what's call 'snark', among other things.

Service is due once a year so perhaps it's nothing more than an "idiot light" to tell you to bring it in for service. Do you not have a Jag dealer near enough to you that you can't just run it over there? It may be for nothing more than an oil change.

NOTE: The guys saying your engine is blown and referring to the absent codes you didn't provide here are obviously "pulling your leg"

The "service required" is a message in the dash not the CEL. Might just be a loose gas cap but as the jolly boys have said, no codes, all wild speculation. Engine unlikely to have blown if it's running and doesn't sound like a bag of spanners in a tumble dryer....

The 2014 will say 'Change oil soon' (or something like that) when you approach 16K miles or 1 year. Mine gives me the 1 year warning every spring.

Again, they're both being snarky, as the OP posted virtually no info. Too much effort to be helpful, I guess.
