Talking "I think it's a "Porch" Silly things said by passerbys

OK Let's start a thread about strangers reaction to seeing your Jaguar.
Mine is in the title line, People do stop and stare... all the time. Then there's the drivebys who make a lot of noise with their engines, as they pass my house with the Jag out front. Then there are the guys who wanto race on the Interstate.
Those are just a few or the reactions I've observed.
Please share some of yours.

"I have the same car! Don't you just LOVE Aston Martins?"
"Yeah, Maseratis suck, sucker!" ... or something to that effect.
"Is that an XJ220?"

Most common: "Is than an Aston Martin?" "Is that a Jag?"

I once watched a guy in a Mini Cooper stop in front of my XK on the street and just stare at it in awe for 2-3 minutes.

Have been asked whether it's a maserati only a few tines but the amount of tines ppl think it's a DB9 is astronomical.

Perhaps this Is due to the fact that the xk150 is extremely rare in Australia.

Since taking ownership I have only seen a further 3 on the street

I get that comment, or 'I like your jag-wire!'

In another thread, I mentioned a young couple driving next to me and after looking over at the X150 for some time, she exclaimed: 'Wow!! It's a friggin' Jag-Wire!'

I've had guys think it was a Maserati, a Supra, an Aston, and a Corvette (?!?!). The Supra I could almost understand if they were referring to the MKIV Supra. I've had people follow me into parking lots, pass me, then slow down and pull in behind to follow, and one dude tried to follow me home, but that is really not cool, and I shook him in my neighborhood. Twice I've come out of stores to find someone taking pictures, and the last time I was sitting in the car outside a store, one of the employees asked if he could take pics, so I took one of my own...

There's two convertible X150s in the area, but I've never seen another coupe, so I think that's why it gets so much attention.

The most fun conversation I had was when I stopped for gas for the first time while still in Oregon where I bought it. The kid pumping the gas saw the "supercharged" on the hood vents and asked me if I ever used the supercharger...

"Superwhat?" I asked.
"Supercharger. It blows air into the engine and makes it faster.,
"Wait.... this has that?!?!?! "
"Uh, yeah, man... it says it right on your hood."
I laughed and then said that yes, of course I use it.

Most common question: Is that and Aston Martin? Most common comment: Wow!!! that is one beautiful car.
Actually, quite amazing for a design that is at least 14 years old.

While I can't imagine myself mistaking an XK for a DB9, as there are so many small differences, for those less used to looking at pictures of exotic cars, it's fairly understandable as the overall shape is very similar. As James May put it: "Designed by the same man who did the Aston Martin DB9...using a piece of tracing paper."

I get the usual such as thumbs up and OK and wow , nice car. Usually get a what is it at times in the gas station which leads to a 10 minute conversation. Sometimes have folks take cell phone pictures from their cars and get the race the motor at traffic lights from the rice burner crowd. Then they bark out with their fart can mufflers believing they just left me in the dust. Most of the time the leaper on the back gives away the brand . Now when I had my little Ferrari I used to get people asking me if it was a mustang when they see the cavallino on the rear.

They live in Michigan too.....had similar questions of mine years ago, but they would ask if it was a Fiat or Mazi! At least they were in the right country.

The worst part was this was the Detroit area and you'd think people would know better! Go figure.

Just to drive people crazy, I'd replace the grill in the Jag with that of a DB9

Or you could go even further

That would still require some horizontal aluminium stripes.

Unfortunately My XJS / Jacobra isn't prowling the streets just yet, but everyone that sees it, knows Immediately it's a Jag. Which makes me smile.
