That’s for the optional wind deflector that snaps in across the rear seats. I have one and it works well.

If im unsure how a panel comes off, I look for a used one on Ebay. They usually list pictures showing the backside and how it clips. Then I know it comes off.

A set of trim removal tools is a must-have.

$8.99 on Amazon

Edited - see @Cee Jay post below for what I deleted. If this doesn't work,

Search Amazon for
GOOACC 8PCS Auto Trim Removal Tool Kit

Unable to prevent Amazon from redirecting the link to Super Offers.

If anyone can explain how to stop this, please chime in. Here's what happened:

Don't click on this link. It redirects you to Superoffers on Amazon , and I can't fix it. Instead, type it into your browser.

That link didn't work regardless, so here's what I found.... but in a different color.

This is a video by Klaus at Top Hydraulics that shows how to remove the quarter trim panels. In this case, for top cylinder replacement. It's a good video and Top Hydraulics is the only source I'd use for the top cylinders. Mike Brewer also did a video with him on Wheeler Dealers.
He's a great guy, too. Extremely helpful. Used his services for my SL500.
@XJFanMatt , hope this answers your question.
