Looking for Wood Steering Wheel Idea - Post Photos of yours
As the title says: looking to add some more wood to my interior. The factory steering although nice, it is a bit on the thin side. I cant decide on a wood steering wheel design. The E-Type design with the holes in the spokes looks interesting but so do some options from Nardi and NRG.
Would love to see some wheels for Series 1-3 interiors.
That wheels looks good. My only gripe with this design is that its a bit thin and usually the wood grip notches on the back of the wheels arent as rounded but more jagged feeling.
Was on the car when I got it, Keep your old wheel if you decide to enter the car in any jcna sanctioned shows, they deduct points for not being original! Ask me how I know! Lol
My 85 now wears a Nardi. Matches perfectly and it's smaller diameter makes driving fo much more pleasant. I went with black spokes. I feel the silver ones tend to clash with the dash. But, to each his/her own.
I don't like ANY steering wheel that blocks the line-of-sight view of the gauges, regardless of brand.
As can be seen in the previous pictures, some gauges are blocked from view due to the spokes being oriented to the 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock position.
Jaguar factory steering wheel spokes are "neutral" at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions, so the gauges aren't blocked.
The guages are not really blocked,. I had to pull my phone so far back to get the whole wheel in the picture. In my regular driving position (head/eye), arr guages are easily visible. I sit quite high up!
my Momo Italy 15" inch, I covered it with leather, feels good...Spokes at 4 o'clock and 8" o'clock.
the other image is my 1965 S type leather steering wheel sold by Moss Motors under the name "Tourist Trophy", in wood or leather, thin or thick grip, the spokes are at 2 o'clock and 11 o'clock but the only gauges behind the steering wheel of the S type are the giant speedo and tach, the other gauges are away, so there is no line-of-sight obstruction.
