Default power steering reservoir hose replacement

I've already replaced a couple of the 3/8" return hoses, noticed the larger (approx 3/4") hose from the reservoir to the pump is seeping.

Jaguar original part is no longer available, and the list price was a joke anyway. I see there's this URO junk part for $110-150, which is a hard pass.

I'm curious, since the p/s pump is Ford, and the reservoir is nearly Ford, has anyone tried using a piece of Ford hose for the same purpose? I found this reservoir hose from an 04-ish Expedition, looks like it can be cut to get the 90 degree elbow needed for the Jag. For $25 from the local Ford dealer I'm tempted to gamble on it.

I mean.... I would be tempted to get the right size hose at an auto parts store and hose clamp the thing together. Are you trying to replace that entire line or a section? I will say if part of the hose is failing eventually it all will.

Yeah, I'm talking about replacing the whole hose. It's only a 8" distance between the reservoir and pump. I could potentially get bulk 3/4" p/s return hose and form my own 90 degree elbow, but I'd probably spend more than buying the Ford part to cut up. I'm talking about cutting out the correct hose section like this:

Or a better fit, this hose from a Transit 250 that has a long straight section with a 90 degree bend:

I'll post back when I get it figured out.

Yea, that is kinda what I mean. They have pre-bent hose too that is meant to be cut to your liking. They have generic stock and also if you have found a similar hose that they have or can order then do that.

Ah, gotcha--yes I've seen the generic pre-formed sections for cooling systems, but I doubt any stores around me have those for power steering. It would be a different rubber type for use with oil and at the temperatures of the p/s system. Plus ours runs right next to the exhaust, so needs to be more resilient.

I ordered the Ford Transit reservoir hose for $25 from eBay today, I think as long as the ID is correct it will do the trick. Will post back with photos. Figured this was worth a gamble.

Disappointingly, Ford hose CK4Z-3691-A does not work. So close, yet so far. The hose is nominally the correct ID for the reservoir and the pump, but unfortunately the vehicle that this hose was designed for uses a p/s pump with a larger fitting. The pump end with the 90 degree bend is flared out to 18mm ID. The ID needed for both ends on the Jag is 16mm. Sadly I had to put back my OE hose, it's not leaking and not in terrible condition. Will likely try to source some hose stock and put the 90 degree bend in it myself.

The rest of the return hoses are standard 3/8" ID power steering hose. Had to use single ear clamps, so I don't lose points at the car show and whatnot
