I'm game for most things.

BUT

We are dealing with what?????, XJS I presume, year, engine, etc would be a good start.
Location also helps, as there are variations depending on the market it lives in.

One thing that I think is universal with 1980-1996 XJS is the inertia switch.
You don't mention that you checked that, so I would just jump the switch wires and try again.
Based on your comments about everything that is not functioning I would check that.
Throwing parts at these cars is the easiest way to get things wrong and get further away from the solution.
No one can give you a definitive answer without knowing exactly which year and motor you have.

We checked that first. it was not tripped. this is a 1989. owned it for 20years. but it been a project. To Bussey working on everyone else's cars. You know drill. I have a switch in a donner car. Will install today. It was strange the way it happened. I start it every few months in the bay and just let it run. The day I was running it it just shut off. no start. The spark was weak. So we put in a coil, than spark control unit. Its just getting worse before it gets better. What you know about TWR XJS

No spark and no pump?

Inertia switch just kills the pump, shouldn't affect the spark.

What is the starter doing when turning the key? Is the engine trying to turn over, or is it just clicking, or not even that?

And, of course, what year and engine. 21 years of models to choose from.

If it is a Marelli car, check the crank sensor by the harmonic balancer.

OK

You replaced the coil, as in singular, so I reckon you be Lucas. OK, there is a 2nd coil out the front of the radiator, but not too important right now.

Lucas has NO crank sensors.
Count the HT leads, 13 is Lucas, 14 is Marelli.

Have a read of the stickies at the top of this section, lots of info in there.

I am thinking the Igniton Switch Electrical Section is having a bad day, COMMON with age and lack of use.

Read the attachment.

I still think you be in the USA, and that market had some odd relays and stuff we did not get, so I will not go there, coz I dont know.
