RE: Squeaking Breaks
What Bill is trying to say so eloquently is, that you need to brake hard once in a while..
Try this..While reversing at a pretty good speed down a quiet street somewhere or in a parking lot..Ponce on the brakes a few times and hold them until you come to a stop..do this a few times and then see if the forward driving braking noise stops..you may have to do this several times to knock the glaze off your pads...

RE: Squeaking Breaks
damn Dennis, you're pretty good, tis true
And I relate a true story that illustrates well.
When my wife had a BMW, and I drove the Jag, her brakes squeeled all the time, it would take a week of me driving her car to get them to finally stop squeeling. Now mind you the Jag never squeeled........until....
I went out of town for a week and she wanted to drive the Jag. When she picked me up from the airport, I got in the car to drive and upon the first time hitting the brakes they squeeled like crazy!!! I looked over at her and all should could do was smile a said sorry
After driving all the way home and laying into the brakes they finally quit squeeling. Now this is a story I use to illustrate to customers. same car, same brakes, 2 different braking styles and 2 different results!!!
Light frequent braking(most predominatly female gender) produces glazing and brake squeel. Men drive and brake alittle more aggressivly and brake alittle more aggressively. This results in less of a tendancy to polish(glaze) pads and rotors creating squeeling. So as Dennis pointed out, go find a lonely road and accelerate hard then brake like a dog ran in front of you do this until you get the ABS to activate a couple times both forwards and backwards. Glazed pads also greatly reduce the braking efficiency as is evident when I hit the brakes of a car with glazed pads and I cant get the ABS to activate until theyre cleaned up....So the moral of the story is leave room between you and the car in front and take your foot of the gas and let the engine slow you, then brake, and when you do BRAKE, I'm not talking slamming on the brakes, but people in your car should know youre braking. Another problem is 12k on a 3 yr old car!!!! Go drive it, thats another problem with brake squeel just sitting. Personally I would have explained all this to you and done it for you and not charged you anything

RE: Squeaking Brakes
Holy crap. So all this frustration with my squeeky brakes are because of my braking style?? Go figure. Lisha... I feel your pain and embarrassment - I too feel the same way when I drop off my son at school! Lol I just had all new rotors and pads put on my car in September thinking that would cure it (they needed to be changed too) and it didn't help a bit. I'm going to go out and brake like a MAN!!!!
