please help with standard XF items
Hi All
I bought a very nice XF (2014) recently and generally it had been very good.
I have three questions I would like answered please
1) Do all XFs have a washer warning light? And if so, should it be illuminated when you switch the ignition on? (If so then mine is duff)
2) In a similar vein, do they all have tyre pressure warning lights and if so, same questions as above
3) I have a massive rattle problem at low revs which is the door trim (acttually appears to be the speaker housing) on the driver's door - how can that be fixed please?
Would any of the above (assuming 1 and 2 are true) be fixed under warranty?
Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob,
The X250 forum is the place to post technical questions about your 2014 XF.
Other than the "lamp check" which illuminates most of the warning lights for a few seconds when the ignition is switched ON, you shouldn't see permanent warnings.
1. check the reservoir level - if it's full and the light stays on, there's a fault
2. is TPMS fitted? (the tyre valves are metal with a locknut). When the system gives false warnings, it's usually necessary to over inflate the tyres and adjust them down to the correct pressure.
3. remove the door panel to find out what is loose.
Four years old - out of manufacturer warranty unless this has been extended.

Graham thanks for your reply, I was getting worried with all those views and no comments!
So far I have not seen either of those warning lights but I thought they would show up when you turn the ignition on, perhaps not. I haven't checked the tyre thing, didn't realise it was an option the garage said it was standard.
I think the loose thing is the panel itself resonating, so not much I can do
Thank you
Rob

Rob,
The door trim panel is secured with 10 plastic clips (item 11 arrowed). The head fits into a slot in the panel and the tail pushes into a hole in the door.
These are very easily broken when removing the panel so if someone has 'been there before' it could be the reason for the panel resonating.

Had the same issue on my XF.
With door trim off as described above and Speaker panel removed you will see two cables that cross each other, one should be covered in a foam sleeve this rots and allows the cables to vibrate together replaced mine with a substitute sleeving, re clipped the cables together and bingo. silent door trims.
