HI, we are new here and looking at buying a jaguar xj8 on a "w" plate, what oils would you recommend, have checked Halfords Castrol etc and they all recommend different help!!!!

Without doubt the most frequently asked question on the forum and the subject of countless threads.

Jaguar recommendation is a viscosity of 5W-30 with a quality meeting API SJ standard. Jaguar has a commercail arrangement with Castrol and therefore favour this brand.

Whether you choose a fully synthetic, semi synthetic or mineral oil is personal preference as is the brand.
