X Type broken connector

X Type broken connector
I have a 2008 2.0 diesel X Type. There is an electrical connector screwed on the right end of the head (as you look from in front of the car) which is broken. There is a fairly substantial reg cable coming up to the connector along the front of the block, and a braided cable with a ring connector bolted to the top of the connector. The problem is that the connector has corroded and the bolt at the top has just come completely out.
The car runs but I'm having problems with intermittent loss of power. I've no idea whether the broken connector and power problem are related, but if anyone could give me a clue about the purpose of the connector and possibly part number I'd be very grateful.

Welcome to the forum steve-o,
The Region forums are for geographically relevant posts and the Model forums for technical questions. This question is best asked in the X-Type forum. If you can post a photo showing the broken connector, I'll copy your post to X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.
Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

You could try solder the wire back together and cover it up with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing. But I don't know if you would need to disconnect the battery or not.
it would be safer to disconnect the battery would this will reset your radio and you'll need the code to get it working again so never disconnect the battery unless you have the CODE
