X type tailgate

Exclamation X type tailgate

Hi I have just bought a 2.0 diesal xt type estate. The tailgate allears to be a two part one. Can the glass be opened ? If so how??? 🤔

Hi Rick, I have only had a saloon version so cannot help, but you will without doubt be able to get help if you post in ther X-Typer section here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ There is quite a few members there that have estate versions.

There is a button on the reverse of the black plastic cover at the bottom of the wiper; just push it and it should click open.
Don't slam it afterwards!

I tried that but it won’t open,does the ignition need to be on?

No; once the doors are unlocked it should open.
I'm guessing that the switch is goosed or the button is stuck.
It would be worth taking off the trim panel and having a fettle around inside.
