Default New DIY Shop in North Miami

I'm a BMW owner who'll probably go to an XK as my next car. Been here for a few months learning what I can.

Anyway, I do most of my own work and I've been looking for a DIY garage in S Florida for awhile.

This guy opened a few months ago in North Miami: garageyourself.

I have not used him yet, but called and he seemed like a decent guy. The website looks like a well equipped lift area and shop.

I'll be heading down there in Jan to do my thrust arms and a few other things on my E60 (530). I'll report back when I do.

Just changing your own fluid and filter pan in a ZF transmission (used by both recent BMW's and Jags) can be done for under $400 in parts and fluid if you do it yourself. I hate to guess what a Jag dealer charges; a BMW dealer will charge at least $800.

In the meantime, if anyone uses the guy, let us all know. I live in a condo, so driveway work is out of the question. I assume there's quite a few others down here in a similar situation. Hope this helps.

Following up:

Went down to north Miami yesterday and replaced my thrust arms, among other jobs.

Guy keeps a clean shop, with customer toolchests in order and well stocked. Many varied tools to borrow if needed. Lifts are new. Been there for a year.

I spent 5 hours doing multiple jobs, and I can recommend him highly. Owner (Todd) is a nice guy, knowledgeable and will lend a hand if needed.

Cost for the bay is $20/hr. Almost all tools are free, with a couple of minor exceptions. Place looks pretty much like his website.

garageyourself in Miami. As far as I know, he's the only one in the area.

Hope this helps those who need it.

nice for Miami based owners

i hope it becomes more widespread as the concept has died down
over the years.
