Default Spring Meet for North Georgia

At the January inaugural North Georgia meeting of forum members we had 9 cars, 12 folks show up. I think I sorta volunteered to put together the Spring meeting closer to where I live in the North Georgia mountains.

OK, here it is. Saturday April 11, 2015, 1pm, lunch at the Taccoa Riverside Restaurant outside of Blue Ridge, GA.

Spring has sprung and the leaves will be out in their light green glory and the weather will be perfect. Tops down!

The Taccoa Riverside Restaurant is right on the river and has an extensive menu from hamburgers to their signature local pecan crusted trout and prime rib. Should we call this trout and cars?

Toccoa Riverside Restaurant

As you might see in the website, I would love to substitute a line of Jaguars for their store front picture.

There are two ways to get to this really out-in-the woods restaurant, the quick way is up I75/GA515 to Blue Ridge but the more scenic route is through Dahlonega to US19/US60 through Suches and Dial. If you insist on coming up GA575 be sure to get off at Cherry Log and take Rock Creek Road across the National Forest. While gravel for a couple miles it is a very good, well maintained road that drops you off in the restaurant parking lot and worth the experience.

Since not everyone reads the Lower Atlantic Regional forum I would ask a couple things . . .

first . . . add a link to this thread into your User CP file so that anytime you post on the forum a link appears to this thread . . .

. . . and . . .

that you respond here, to this thread, with either an INTEREST or BE THERE so that I might warn the proprietors of the advancing herd.

This is a 'destination' restaurant for lots of groups and while we are first on the list for that Saturday mid-April it is going to be prime season for folks to escape Atlanta and explore my mountains.

Look forward to meeting many of the forum members that I only know by cognomens and avatars.

Thanks for the replies folks. How about making you Jaguar friends aware of this event. Sign up much slower than I anticipated.

I definitely would like to be there!
I just got my wife's 94 XJS back on the street after
a 2 year period of only 145 on-the-road miles. New tires and the ignition now sorted out
and I believe it will make it ! Otherwise it will be the '99 XJ8 VDP doing the trip.
I do hope it will be a nice day for a convertible top down trip!
I don't think I will go via the Suches route.
The I575/515 route sounds nicer for my wife.
She has no patience for winding roads that go on for hours.
Even if she is not driving!

Your going "out-in-the woods" to meet people you "only know by cognomens and avatars"

Seems like looking for trouble to me!

Seriously, the drive and the destination sound superb. I hope a good number of members can make it.

I'll keep it in mind. Good weather on Saturdays often finds me biking trails though. Could make an exception. Will speak w/ the wife.

Thanks! Sign up a little less than anticipated. The Atlanta area is full of Jaguars and lots of JaguarForum members.

Test point - I've just sent out emails to ALL members within the GA and Atlanta areas advising them of the meet.

GA - 1759
Atlanta - 381

Hopefully that helps and may bring in another 2 or 3 for the event for you.

Best
Jim

Out of town for this one, hopefully I'll make it to the next one - didnt realize meets had started again in GA - scenic(=windy) road route sounds really attractive to my tires.....

My wife and I will be there !

Lunch for 2, or will that be 2 dozen?
The Jaguar Horde has arrived!

Hmmm, Trout season started already. I wonder if I should bring my
fishing gear and catch some supper on the way back?
If I go via Suches (Hwy 60), I would pass the Coopers Creek area where I normally
go Trout fishing. I always catch my limit (8) there in about 3-4 hours.

If you want to give your steering and brakes a work-out try the
GA Hwy 60 rte.
The scenery will give your head and neck a work-out as well.

Cool. I'll be turning onto Hwy 60 at Stonepile Gap.
