XK Sighting 4/6/15
I was saying on another thread how rare and beautiful these cars are. In that discussion, I also noted that in my years of living in Northern Virginia, I'd only seen 2 XK (150 = 2007-2015) on the road and one of those "sightings" was to meet a friend who I knew also had an XK. (not a random sighting).
Since it was sunny and relatively warm today, I decided to take the XK out and was in Reston. I came out of a side road and saw a black XK convertible that could have been mine's twin pass by heading north on Sunset Hills Blvd. I was looking at my Nav system while at the stop light and didn't really notice until it had already passed and saw it moving away down the hill and around the bend. Just then the light turned and I headed the other way. I must say I admired the look of the car as it disappeared around the bend, it really looked sharp.
There have been only 18,000 of these XK's delivered to the US over these 8 years and I think they're fairly rare in some parts of the country. Based on the these Jaguar Forums, it seems like there's a decent number of XK owners around the mid Atlantic but, it's very rare to see them out on the road. It seems we don't take them out very often, particularly during the winter. Is that generally true....occasional drive rather than a daily driver?
Do you find them as rare to see on the highways as I do? It's a pleasure to see them, they're really beautiful cars.

FRG, I see a single black XK in my neck of the neighborhood maybe 3 times a year. Granted, I may be looking at one every day since I am pondering buying either a 2011/2012 here in the near future (granted, the same year XJ is looking more interesting). I have found a few for a pretty decent price. Granted, I would be driving mine 365 days a year.

I had a X before the XJ. With the X, I actually looked forward to getting out in the snow. Now, when it snows, I stand in the window watching the flakes fall from the sky and decide which book to sit down with.

Bah, when it snows around here is when it would be the most fun to drive the car. Find an empty parking lot and go for a spin (literally). We will see what I buy. I think part of it may come down to what I see as the "better deal". I am battling the wants over the needs right now. I would love to get the XJ Supercharged, but then I think about how often I would truely use all the power it has and then I realize that the standard XJ would do me just fine most likely. Then I bounce back to how much fun it would be though to have the supercharge XJ, tweak the motor some to get it into the 600 hp range, and then play with the kids in their Hondas.

Sighting Clarendon Courthouse 3/1/15
I was out reasonably early today and drove to Clarenden Courthouse. It was snowy rain and a little icy so I took the SUV and left the kittens at home. When I was looking for a coffee place and waiting at an intersection, a black XK coupe, maybe '12 or '13, slipped its way into the middle of the intersection. It was beautiful though a little bit covered in snow. Since I wasn't in a Jag, I didn't "tip my hat" but this is my "tip of the hat" instead.

I just don't see them very often, but when I do, I admire them. They are a very good looking car. I usually don't drive mine to work, but I did drive the last couple days and enjoyed the afternoon sunshine with top down. It was chilly today, particularly with the wind, but I still enjoyed the sunshine on my face.
