For anyone looking for a great Indy mechanic in the Chicago western burbs, I can certainly recommend Becker Service Center in Naperville. I've been taking my cars there for years, and they always did a good job with my SL500 and 928, but this was the first opportunity to have them work on the XK8.

It's a large shop with about a dozen bays and quite clean and tidy. The day I was there I spotted two other XK8's (bizarre coincidence, assumably), a 1970 hemi Cuda, and a 930 turbo engine being worked on.

I brought the car in because I started to see tranny fluid leaking on the garage floor. They did a complete review of the car's mechanicals and replaced the tranny pan/filter assembly, power flushed the tranny and replaced the fluid with Redline D6 at my request, replaced a leaking coolant overflow tank, replaced the engine serpentine belt, oil and filter change, plus a few misc hose clamps. I had dropped the car of the previous evening, Jim (the owner), called me at about 10 AM the next day with his diagnosis and price quote and the car was ready to go by 5 PM. Total bill was about $1,100 which I considered to be good value for great professional service.
