I live in Plover, a "suburb" of the metropolis known as Stevens Point. I have a '73 E Type OTS that is in just about as many parts as it can be in. We are snow birds, so when I get back in the spring, the project will get back underway.
Welcome r.dwalters,
I went to UWSP for a couple of years, one of the best memories of which was an 8 am roller skating class at the Golden Sands rink in Plover - covering a phy ed credit, I guess. I've always wondered if that is still there! Anyway, best of luck on the project. Sounds like a worthy one. And enjoy your time south. The cold and snow we had this week makes that sound like a great idea!
cheers,
Scott

Hi! I've never met anyone from Plover -- always thought it sounds like what a cop says to you "Pull Over!" I've driven past highways signs with your town's name on it many, many times -- I grew up in MN and WI. I'm in FL (where do you "winter" in FL?) but also have a home in Madison, WI where I spend my vacations -- looking forward to retiring up there some day.

Welcome again, Josh. I don't live too far from Madison either - towards Sauk. Glad to have another Wisconsinite with us, and one from the south central area of the state.
Enjoy the drive!

I was hoping that some WI folks here could post some pics showing how a front license plate is fixed to an XK8/R. I brought mine back from IL and there isn't even a bracket attached to the car. So far I have been lucky to escape the interest of local law enforcement.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hi
This topic has come up numerous times, to put on the the front plate or not. Personally, I think it ruins the looks of the Jag, but you can get a ticket if you don't have one displayed ( like I did in Illinois, for $65 bucks and again a month later ). It's entirely up to the cop that pulled you over. Not wanting to drill any holes I simply attached the plate to the bumperetts using black cable ties. It works and can be removed quickly if you feel the need.

This is a curious issue. I have a 2000 XKR from California and it never had a front plate. There are plenty of adapters available on ebAY, even retractable ones, but here is the question. Wisconsin doesn't even bother to put the expiration information on the front plate. I have been operating the car only in the summer and have never been questioned by our local police or the State Patrol. Maybe just lucky, but I keep the plate in the car and handy. Maybe it's where we live and the cops are all car guys and understand it ruins the look. Maybe I'll get tagged, but for now I don't plan on putting one on unless forced to.

Hello and welcome WFire
I'm located a little Northwest from you near the Townsend area. Currently my Jag is Hibernating, but one of these days the snows will melt and the sun will come out. The Forum is great place for asking the questions you just can figure out, no need to reinvent the wheel. Have fun
