04 x-type, Owned it for 6 mo. great in the big snows we just got. The 40/60 power split makes it handle real well.

Hello NH folks!

I'm in Londonderry and thinking about buying an '05-'08 XJ.

Can anyone recommend a NH repair shop?

For those of you who have an XJ, would you consider emailing me directly? I'd love to ask about your experiences with the car. I've always owned Japanese cars and am a bit nervous about repair issues with a Jag.

Thanks,
Don

You'll need to cruise on over to Parker's Maple Barn in Mason for breakfast. The car will look very good parked out front...don't get stuck in the snow. Parker's is my favorite breakfast place in all the world.

Nice to see us NH'ites don't let potholes and frostheaves stop us from enjoying motoring!

John,

I see you have an '04 XJ8. I've been thinking about purchasing an XJ8 and would love to hear about your experience with the car.

Any known/recurring problems I should watch out for?

Do you have it worked on at a dealer or an independent shop?

If you want to take this discussion off line, please email me at dcummings@aptussearch.com

Thanks,
Don

If any of our Southern NH or Northern MA friends need work done, and don't mind if it's a little slow, write me. I'll happily do medium jobs, like '69-'87 front suspension rebuilds, IRS rebuilds, engine re-seals, etc. I work cheap, but slow. If you need the car back quick, someone else might be better. I can only work on nights and weekends. I welcome your help to save money/time. All the tools for almost anything.

Hi Don,

I worked at the dealers for 17 years and now have my own shop in MA. If you are looking to buy a 04 up XJ8 they have been great cars very reliable and not alot of problems. The biggest problems have been with the air suspension compressor but most went before they went out of warrentee. They ride great and get very good gas milage for a big car with a V8, and you can get used ones cheep.

Hi Dana,

Thank you for responding. It's great to hear they're good cars.

I also have considered the A8 and 750LI, but they seem to be extremely problematic. The BMW's seem to leak oil a lot......I mean really, are we talking about 1970's Harley's or $80k luxury cars!

What's the name of your shop? What town is it in?

All the best,
Don

Hi Don,

The name of my shop is Upton Foreign Motors it is in Upton, MA. The A8s and the 7 series BMWs do have alot of problems. The XJ8 is the better buy.
