Default Should I or shouldn't I - 1988 XJ-SC?

Hello,

I am a complete novice when it comes to Jags but I have the chance of a non-running 1988 XJ-SC in NJ for $1500 - it needs an interior and respray for sure and the little I do know is that replacing "headliner" components can be a pain and expensive, along with perhaps a complete engine rebuild too!
I would have to pay for all work done - any thoughts on whether it's worth a punt?

Thanks and regards,
Anthony

If you can't do any of the work yourself and you don't have very deep pockets I would pass
