someone/shop in north jersey-greater nyc area to to program key
on the assumption I can get my own key cut,,,,is there anyone out there who can rx...someone/shop who has the necessary software to program another key/to my xj8 2000 long?
i only have one black key and need a duplicate.Trying to avoid paying 400 bucks or more at a dealer to get this done. Any thoughts, suggestions or referrals...thanks again

I had a key cut and programmed to the car by a local locksmith. I suggest you
call around and ask. Don't get confused by the fact that there are two types of programming commonly confused with each other. They are:
1-Programming the key to the car.
2-Programming the remote key FOB to work with the car. This is the one that
will flatten your wallet at the dealer. I did see a dealer program an unprogrammed FOB with a working one in the ignition key slot a long time ago.
Unfortunately I can not reproduce the sequence.
