Default August Meet and Drives

Well, it's time to talk August!

Of key importance this month is "Jaguars on the Green" August 10th at the LeMay Museum in Tacoma. This is a big Seattle Jag Club event worthy of checking out!

I have had requests for setting up a two day event, and I have a couple possibilities should anyone be interested.
The one I speak of mostly is Hood River. 5+ hours of blissful backroads and scenic overlooks brings you to the stunning Columbia River Gorge, and Waterfall Vistas many easily overlook whe driving the freways...

http://goo.gl/maps/946Sz

Although I have interest in Jaguars on the green, I am willing to drive south any weekend in August should a few be interested in pinning down a weekend.

This next weekend I am East bound to Lewiston. If any can be "spontanious" you are welcome to join me in hunting down new roads in that region! My excursion will be more than just the weekend, but interested parties could easily make it a two day trip as well.

Any interest in Hood River? (Votes)
10th-11th
17th-18th (1)
24th-25th (1)
31st-1st

Feel free to PM me...
Vnce

Any and all ideas are open for discussion!

I have thought about Bend, via Old McKenzie Hwy, but that is a solid 7 hours in the saddle for the Seattle folk. Although I could do it, it would require far too much freeway (yuck) to make it worth while.
A run down 101 would be fun, (except for summer traffic), but a the only reasonable destination would be Canon Beach. or Tillimook.

Coeur d'Alene would be a cool run via back farmland roads as well.

I'm in, and flexible as far as the drive goes, as always.

I might also join you for a bit this weekend. Do you leave Saturday? PM me some details, or call. I'm currently trying to move some things around, so I can't commit fully, but pretty sure some driving time should be possible.

Cheers,

Marko

Hey guys, I'm sorry you didn't receive this mail, I can only apologise.

I sent the mails to the area codes as above, so that was to.....

Northwest - 7
Washington - 124
Oregon - 106
Idaho - 32
SW - 263

ONLY members that have bothered to add these into their details, exactly as above would have received the mails I'm afraid.

Marko - you are down as WA and Vince you are down as Pacific Northwest

These are not recognised and therefore were not sent.

NOTE - A further 954 sent to WA

Any other advice, please help me to help you.

Thanks guys

No such message received here, either. I sure wish I could make the trip across state this weekend, but I can't because I'm tied up Sunday. I can't wait to hear what Vince has to say about the old highway at Whitebird Hill. It is right next to the National Battlefield where the Nez Perce whipped US Army regulars in the 1870's. You have to make a run in both directions, up and down. Really wish I could be there. The only free weekend I have is the 17th-18th, if Hood River/Gorge is then I'm in.

Lol no Vince, I'm not trying to scare you...

Just trying to help you, to help me, to help you, to help JF to.....
I guess you get the picture...lol

I wouldn't get to excited, generally quite a number may no longer be active / interested, some may not reply or have changed emails etc etc

Its likely yoo may still get a small percentage, perhaps half a dozen or more that come back?
Time will tell I guess.....

You certainly would be welcome! But my timing on the Lewiston run is more of a much needed stress relief right now.... gotta drive, or just go nuts..... (I choose "drive"....) Hope I dodge all the smoke from fires...grrrrrr....

I'll start a tally for Columbia River dates on post number 1...

@Jim

Got it now! I really appreciate your efforts Jim!
Let's see if we get some more reaction, I think it's a good idea to let people now. There were several instances, where only a PM made me aware, because I didn't have time to browse the forum. Thanks!

Talking hood river rally

Hi, I've had a jag since 2006, but haven't ever hooked up with a club for a rally or whatever. I don't really know what to do other than show up.
So, Aug 25 is my 65th B-day (Milestone of sorts) so I vote for the 24-25 aug date. I have a 2004 xj-Vandenplas and a 2005 XK8 which I would be bring for hood river. The 10th is out because I put my 61 Imperial in a local car show. The 17th is a church seniors activity.
Thanx for taking the time and trouble to organize an event
Bert
