Default Hello! Valve cover seals and boss seals???

Hi everyone, My name is Dave and I just joined this forum and was directed to my regional site. I live in the Boise, Idaho area and recently purchased a 2003 X-style with a 2.5L and 120,000. I am the 3rd owner and from the looks of things the maintenace was not done all that great.

I have the intake manifold off and I am doing full TUNE-UP. I already purchased $1,500 in parts, but I am in a spot where I could use some advice.

I can't find any write-ups, pics or videos on removing the valve covers and replacing the gaskets and boss seals. Is there any tips and advice that can be given? Sealants? Torque settings? Things to watch out for?

Thanks a ton and have a great day/night!

Dave

Welcome to the forum Dave!

Glad to see Jim was able to help ya out with some info....

We don't see a lot of Jag owners from the Idaho side of house, which is too bad... Guess your a tad more exclusive over there!

I'll be heading over towards Lewiston later this summer to check out some of your great back roads! Lucky you, as it looks like your state is blessed with many worthy of driving!

Hope to hear your car is up and purring again soon!

Thanks Vince, I think you are right. My wife and I get so many looks in this beautiful car and now I notice I really don't see many Jags on the road in/near Boise Idaho. I never noticed until we were spontaneously pulled into buying one.

With that being said, I will need this forums research even more with keeping this kitty purring without breaking our bank!

That's cool to hear that you guys do meets and drives around this region. Idaho like you said does have many beautiful roads and scenary, but so does the Pacific Northwest. Great region to be a part of. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I think my XK was originally purchased in Boise, according to the paperwork I have. I think half the fun in owning them is their exotic status by virtue of their rarity. Welcome to the forum, Dave. I hope you got your mechanical bugs on the run.
