Default Thoughts on a weekend drive?

My kitty is pretty darn dirty since I just returned for California last week, but we have been missing many of our normal gatherings so far this season, I would be willing to clean her up if there was interest....

410 over Chinook Pass is open..... Could be a sweet day with sun and snow along the sides. Maybe a simply up and back run?
Interest in a longer run could simply circle Rainier (through Morton/Elbe... Etc)

Thoughts?

Vince

Thanks for posting this, Vince.

I've been wondering when the next drive will be. I was hoping for a Spring drive. I assume we'll all do the Leavenworth drive in September, yes? But let's do one before.

We are off to a slow (or no) start year....
You are the first to speak up, and may be the only one for this weekend... If your interested in running up 410 and back with minimal attendance, Sunday is the better day. I'll drive with ya any time, even if it is two of us.

It would be nice to get our other brethren woken up and on Cats the road together!

Leavenworth in September is pretty much a win each and every time, but I would still like to see another Mt Baker run, and a St Helens run this summer.
Last year we did a run to the summit on Hwy 20, which was a great time for all as well!

Anyone else out there listening?

Vince
BTW,

Crater lake 10 June 2017

Just got home last night from eight days and 3000 miles in 100+ degrees every day in the southwest. The bugs crusting the front of my Jag are pretty amazing. I'm up for a drive soon but can't Sunday the 25th.

Dang Kev.....
Sounds like you had a nice drive other than the temps.....

All I can say is my Jag and I are gettin outta town and into the sun one day this weekend.
Thinking about taking the Silver XK to Exotics, seeing that shes still a better looking car than Red....but also because I can leave the For Sale sign in the seat while I walk about.

I could see doing a short drive after that.

Thoughts anyone?

Wow... So far only Swimref has shown the slightest interest.
Would altering the destination change minds?

Enumclaw is an easy reach for me at about an hours drive.
I'm just thinking surrounded by a little snow on Chinook (especially on an 80+ degree day) would be a good thing! We have a great little burger and bar joint we have stopped at upon several return runs.

Monroe can be reached in just under 2 if the traffic gods feel lenient on me. A late lunch in Leavenworth could be an enjoyable drive, but hot still.

Just thinkin outloud here folks....

If you're still thinking about Saturday (tomorrow) I'm still with you. Just let me know where and when.

Saturday it is...
I would expect traffic to be heavier than normal, so any road will be a line of cars, but 410 gives you lots of places to pull over and keep it relaxed with sun an scenery.

Another possibility- We could visit Hurricane Ridge if you wanted to jump a boat.

Is Hurricane Ridge open already? If so I'd like that, although it means getting up early. Easier that way for you, too. BTW, Sunday I'll be near Port Orchard all day.

Well.....

A lone Jaguar stalked the Olympics this weekend.

Along the way, a short detour found an old train trestle converted to a walking path. Very interesting and older than most I have seen.

The Olympic locals took note of the Cat, and kept a weary eye on her.

A beautiful day, and comfortable 70 degrees in the hills!

Is that a marmot? And what makes the locals so weary? Perhaps the strain of looking hard for fast red cars! Sorry I was forced to bail at the last minute, I'm truly sorry I missed the drive but it was good to spend time with Karen's grandson, a very well-behaved eight year old.

No worries Swimref. I appreciate your standing up and at least trying to get something happening with our Jaguar group.

The pics don't help show its size, but yes that a marmot. When on all fours, it stands about a foot high at the back.

Yeah, the Jag was indeed impressive climbing the twisties to the parking lot!

In all seriousness, I had wished for more company, so you Jag owners need to perk up and grab these drives when they happen. I'm overly spontaneous, but I can promise some great drives if you can work your schedule around for them.

Next Saturday (1 July) looks plausible as well.....if anyone wants to offer a destination........

On a personal note, I was thinking Ocean Shores to play with kites, but any member here that wants to speak up with better ideas is always welcome!

Mt Baker? = Very long day... Is it open yet?
St Helens? = (Same as above)
Loop Hood Canal?
Satsop Nuclear Towers = Easy drive for me, easy/fun back roads, and great backdrop for photo ops.

The point being, I'm in a position to be a tour guide or participant if anyone wants to drive some cool back roads....

Summer is here.... Lets put a group of cool Cats on the road to not only turn heads, but do what our cars love to do best.... Drive.......
