Default 1995 xjs 4.0l

I'm looking into buying the above car; the car needs tires. I've been told that Jaguar installed originally Pirelli 4000. Can anybody confirm this? Any advise on the best tires for this XJS is more than welcome. Thanks, Marc

Jaguar did use the P4000/4000E in the mid-90s but not exclusively. Depends on tire size, with/without 'sportpack' suspension etc.

AFAIK the P4000 series was discontinued a number of years ago.

'Best' tire is open to opinion, obviously. What size do you want and what attributes do you care most about? Long life? Noise? Comfort? Hard cornering traction? Wet traction? etc

Cheers
DD

See my reply in this post regarding 225/60/16/V tires:

As an aside, the Pirelli P4000 was a very small tire for it's rated dimensions. The Generals I've been using are noticeably much larger looking than the Pirellis. I was never impressed with the P4000's handling and treadwear either. These days there are much better options.
