Default Jaguar Newbie! Wheel size question

Hi All! I just gave in to a lifelong desire and bought my first Jaguar... a 1986 XJ6, claret with biscuit interior. Love the car, don't care for the original "Kent" alloy wheels.

My question: Will wheels from a 1991-1993 XJ6 fit my 1986? The current Kents seem to be 15 x 6 inches, 5 bolts on 4.75 inch circle, with 28.5mm offset.

The 91-93 wheels I've found are listed as same bolt pattern, but 15 x 7 inches and 33mm offset.

Think it would work? Would my (decent) 215/70 R15 Pirelli tires fit? The newer wheels are "dignified" rather than "sporty" (like the Kents) and I like them. (My first post here... hope I did it right.)

Thanks,
John

Hi there,

From what you have told I believe they should fit. I am no expert and hopefully someone that knows more than I do will correct if I am wrong

I have a similar question, whether the XJS wheels will fit an 86 XJ6?

I've seen 'em on quite a few Ser III Jags over the years so apparently they do fit.

I've heard that in some case the center cap won't fit, though. The front hibs are a bit too long so the wheel bearing dust cap interferes with the fit of the center cap. I recall that the fix was to space the wheel aboard 1/8" or so.

Others will chime in

Cheers

In nearly all cases, or perhaps literally all cases, the answer is yes. But XJSs came with a variety of wheels over the 20 year run so there might be an exception or two.

Which ones are you thinking of?
