Default polyurethane foam in the frame of the car

I just had a conversation with a friend very knowledgeable about the competitions.He said to stiffen the chassis of racing cars in the US and Japan, often use the polyurethane foam that is inserted in the chassis side members empty.

no one has ever done this?
