Default Mod section? F.A.O admin

Hi

Browsing down through posts I noticed a few posts of mods owners have done

Can we have a mod section? so everyone can share any good ideas and mods they have done and easier to keep them all in the same place

I for one want to make some improvements to my x but not sure what, hence why i was looking through posts to get inspiration

Agreed. We can surely come up with a snappy name, too.

For a name, what about "X-tras". Just saying. Food for thought.

X-Tras sounds like it's only for X-Types...maybe Old World Rice?
Enhanced cats?

Aonsaithya, well, considering that you have the XF's, XK's, XJ's and whatnot, about the only vehicles it would not cover is the S-Types, E-Types, and F-Types. Now I do agree that I would hate to make it seem like I am leaving out the S guys (as there are relatively few E owners and fewer F owners as of now), it is something catchy. Hopefully someone else will come up with something.

A random thought hit me. While this isn't blatantly obvious, what about calling it "Cat Nip". Just a random thought flowing through my head.

How about call it MODS

Cant decide if each car section should have a mod section or if one mod section for all jags on the home forum page

Each car section - easier to find mods specific for your car

Main home forum page - could be mods applied to other types that could inspire for other types

Well we already have dedicated categorized sections for just about anything that might have been done to a car.

Scroll down the home page to see them.

These cover all models for a specific area of the car.

Your best bet would be to be Model specific within a forum, then enthusiasts of your particular model will be more likely to follow things appertaining to their car and find things via search engines.

Create a thread, give it a catchy title, post about your modifications and see where it goes.

I have scrolled down the main home page and there is definately no mod section

Creating a post with mod that has been done gets lost over a time and causes situations that i mentioned in my post at the top, a dedicated mod section will be easier to find what everyone else is doing - makes sense!!!!!

There have been several threads on modifications here in the X-Type forum of late.

One of the more recent ones here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...es-mods-95800/ and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-please-90713/

Rather than making a whole new section, that nobody will read (believe me, the subforums down the bottom of the main page get very little traffic) maybe by merging these threads and any others like it, it could be an epic thread, at least for the X-Types...maybe a mod could make it a sticky, if it takes off

my recommendation would be within the X-type forum a sticky like the HOW-TO's section and call it MODIFICATIONS

Surely thats easy enough to do? and really no big deal

Ok M9...........As per Translator, whay not create a thread & call it "Modifications" if you wish and get it started.

If it gets enough interest / traffic then of course I see absolutely no reason why we wouldn't sticky it for you.

Go for it....

Jim, I am not sure if this is even possible (I would think so), but could there be a sub folder placed at the top of the forum list for each vehicle (kinda like a sticky, but would always be #1) that would then be able to be clicked which would then expose a list inside of a list? That way, all the modification stuff can be kept in 1 location for a given model without cluttering up the main list with the other forum information.

You could take it even a step further under the "Mod subfolder" to have folders inside of that relating to the big picture parts of the car (engine, brakes/wheels, body, etc). That way, someone looking to do a modification to their car has a quick to access way to find what the options are.

If I need to get into more detail about this, I will. It could even possibly be used to incorporate the "How-to" section too. That way, you need a reference on how to do something and what your options are, that information would be in one place. Maybe I am making things more difficult from a MOD perspective, just tossing out the idea to see what sort of response there may be. Only through discussion and listening do we all move ahead.
