Default 03 X-Type with Factory Navigation

I finally bought my first X-type and it came with the factory Navi unit. I think its really sweet and like that they used Denso in the manufacturing of the unit and mapset.

I was wondering, though, being a former Pioneer Avic user, I really miss being able to watch movies. I know the navigation deck in the trunk is only a DVD-Rom so obviously won't play DVD-Video, but is there anyway to get DVDs playing on the headunit? I was wondering if there maybe is even some inputs or outputs on the headunit that can be used to possible hook up an external DVD player to it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be posting pics soon once I get a chance.

I think there is an aftermarket kit that splices into the wire harness in the trunk and can you can send a video signal from a DVD player into the car harness. this will let you watch movies.
What you gotta understand is that all the video screens come from that rear unit, and if you push the Climat button, or Audio etc... the screen will be showing a movie still. The touch screen will still work during a movie so if you are really good with remembering the position of the buttons you can adjust other things while watching a movie.

Does that make sense.?

Default Nav/dvd

Good info, I've heard of the unit/kit/adapter from a couple of shops only problem is haven't been able to beat that $600. price tag on the unit, if anyone has heard where less expensive adapter can be found please share. DVD Player only units are as less as $200.

I will honestly just suck it up and do without. I like the factory look and don't want to rig it up by splicing into any of the video feed wires from the truck's main unit. I am a MECP certified tech and could easily handle the job, but would prefer not going that route. I haven't even decided if I'm going to throw my L7 in the trunk. I think I'm going to pass on that too.

Thanks so much for the info though. I'm sure a lot of people will also find it very helpful.

Thats always a choice, but from what i've been told the unit does the converting you need not splice anything.

if thats the case then maybe id go that route. i definately wouldnt for $600 though lol. I'm not cheap by any means, but i couldnt justify that high of a cost for something i rarely used in my last vehicle. It's just one of those things that would really be cool.

I do have another question though. Is there anyway to get an adapter in the factory navi unit for the bluetooth to work. I know after 03 they began to install these in some vehicles. is there any way that is know to add this to those vehicles that have the buttons, but not that actual bluetooth receiver connected? I'd definately be interested in that.
