'04 3.0 Flexplate problem
The dealer told me the high pitched sound I hear when my wife drives the car up the driveway is coming from the flexplate. I have seen that there was a problem with the earlier year X-types but was wondering if anyone else with a '04 has had this same problem. The dealer said he is trying to find out if Jaguar will cover this under warranty.

If the car is under warranty, they will cover it. If it is not, it is their discretion. Impossible to say what the noise is without hearing it or at least getting better description.
I have done flexplates on all years of Xs, but never for a whining or high pitched noise. Always for a rattle.

mine is a stickshift and rattles...???? any ideas?
I have heard that the flywheels and flexplates like to come loose on these cars. Not sure how reliable the source was though.
