04 jag xtype

I am debating trading in my Dodge Magnum Hemi for a 04 jaguar x-type. It is a 2.5 manual with 73,000 miles on it. I am doing to actually save money on payments. It is being sold for $8000. I was wondering if anyone had some insight to whether this is a good deal. I'm worried about reliability and repair costs due to the fact i am trying to save money. Does any one have any opinions on this model?
The 04 X-types have the upgraded transfer cases, so the likelihood of having a transfer case issue is decreased. As for other problems, it is hit and miss like with any other car. I will tell you that in general, parts are going to cost more for a vehicle like this. But then, you are also driving a much nicer car. So, pay a little to enjoy a lot.
As for the price of the car, that isn't too far off from what they normally sell for. I would just make sure on the clutch as you will be nearing time to get a new clutch put into the car depending on how the previous owner drove the vehicle. It can get a little pricey because of the number of things that need to be removed to access the clutch. Also, what sort of options does the car come with? Nav system, heated seats, etc. That can affect the final price too. You can look on http://www.edmunds.com to see what sort of options were available for the car of that year.

Thanks, this is a bare bones jag. No navigation or heated seats but in good shape and interior looks great. The clutch seems to be good and shifts very smoothly there is alittle play in it but grabs very quickly when shifting. Thanks again.
I have a 2004 X-Type 3.0. I don't have anything bad to say because I've never had any problems (I've had it coming up on four months). If you can get a good deal on a nicely maintained vehicle, I think it would be a good choice.
