04 x-type 3.0 doesn't drive in reverse.
i have a 04 jaguar x type 3.0 awd and all of a sudden my car doesnt move in reverse its shifts other gear fine and drives.
when i put it in reverse i can feel it engages but it doesn't move.
if i remember correctly it did it once before few months back but i shifted back to park than reverse and worked without any problem.
car was just parking on my driveway.....
contacted few transmission shops already what should i look for so i wont get ripped off?
read about a thread here from 10 years ago with the same problem but no solution posted :

3 things come to mind:
1. Not enough ATF
2. This: TB XT307-S941 http://jagrepair.com/images/TSB/TSB2...eplacement.pdf
3. Somebody was trying to find the spot, where to check the ATF level, but found a wrong bold on the side, thinking it is the ATF-check-level-bolt, but it was the bolt to release the reverse band ankor bolt instead...: https://www.transmissiondigest.com/a...en-identity-2/
...that is, if you have the Jatco JF506e tranny

This is rare but for me no reverse was due to a hard part failure. Part of a clutch pack drum broke off above the c-clip landing and there were witness marks of that metal going through the trans. The car drove completely fine minus no reverse.

thank you guys for the reply, i dropped off the car at a transmission shop so i'll see what they say.
bunch of shops they don't even look at these cars anymore because of parts hard to come by,they can only change the whole transmission if you lucky to find one !
im in las vegas they shops quoted me about $1k-1.5k for labor only to swap out the whole transmission.
"95naSTA " ill send your pics to the shop ,just in case the more info u know is better.
i dint change the fluid so i dont think the bolt is the problem unless it came loose somehow, the roads are horrible here and my suspension is going out on the front left and the low profile tires don't help either.
if you guys come across other threads with same problem please let me know !
THX and appreciated !

that bolt in question (the check ATF level bolt) has not much to do with an ATF change.
You can make the change without "checking", and you can check without making an ATF change.
If you remove the bolt on the side only temporarily, the reverse gear will be gone.
This bolt would not loosen itself doe to rough roads.
The correct check-ATF-level bolt is under the car (close to where the gear selector cable comes in), but the check procedure is complicated and I do not trust the result anyway.
